Nice beach, lifeguarded. Kids found it a bit difficult as sea has a definite ‘drop off’, it’s not sandy but more shale-like and the waves are really quite powerful - however once they found the game of jumping them were much more entertained. Decent t toilets and places to eat nearby and by bus stop

We have just returned from a week staying in this area, and would have had a wonderful time, if we had not been robbed of all our money.

Please don't let that put you off this area, the incident could (and does) happen almost everywhere on the Costs Del Sol, it's just that we were unlucky whilst in this area.

The promenade and beach here have a quieter welcoming feel than those nearer Torremolinos or Fuengirola, and we enjoyed spending time here, enjoying the BBQ'd sardines, and the 1.50 euro pints of beer.

However we fell victim to an elaborate staged-managed 'scam' that relieved us of all our cash and a credit card. We have Googled the incident, and it seems to happen all too often. No doubt especially in the quiet areas, off season, when they can corner you with little chance of being caught.

It starts by a couple of 'gipsy type' women shouting 'santa maria', and trying to stuff a rosemary twig into your pocket. Despite every effort to get away from them, they persist to the point that you look for some small change, thinking that will finally make them go away and leave you in peace.

Their goal is to get you to keep searching for some sort of coin that you cannot find, until you have to take out your wallet/purse. As soon as you take it out, they start to try and pull it from your clasp. At the same time, associates create a distraction, and they manage to extract money from your wallet, without you even realising. Their associates initially seem like 'do gooders' appearing on the scene to help you.

I fought to keep my wallet, but then it became ugly and we were restrained by their associates until the 'gipsies' had sped off with our cash.

To be fair to the local police, they were helpful and tried their best to see if we could identify potential suspects.

So the message is, if you begun to be accosted by such types, do a runner, and/or maybe scream that you are being attacked as loud as you can. Do not think that you can fob them off by paying them a few coins. Also, do not underestimate their deception and slight of hand. It was reminiscent of a 'flash mob' how orchestrated and skilled they were at their theft.

Well worth the walk up from Benalmadena Costa, We went up past the Dolphin Park and continued up the hill ( once a week there is a flea market here ) .Once up at Playa Arroyo lots of nice shops and cafe's Here is also the train station which can take you to Fuengirola or to Torremolinos and further on to Malaga .Also up past the station is a large open area where they have a huge market every Friday. A chair lift up the mountain leaves from here also. If you do not fancy the walk up to Playa Arroyo the tourist sightseeing train comes up this way from the marina. On the way back we always come via the Paloma Park an adventure in its self.

Arroyo de la miel is worth walk up from Benalmadena. A more traditional village with lots of cafes and restaurants. Prices very keen and nice to sit in sun and with coffee and delicious cake.
Friday is busy with market and lots of visitors. Many take chair lift for wonderful views. In December we watched a religious festival
in the square. Good shopping area, shoes and accessories, lovely
baby shops. Great fruit and veg and the try barbecued chicken to take away, very tasty. The train station to Fuengirola or airport is brilliant.
usually take train from airport and after lunch in Arroyo walk downhill through Paloma Park to Benalmadena. Good bus service, stop outside train station to Mijas and Torremolinos.

This is a wonderful place to visit any time of year i have just spent the summer 2017 here and it was hot hot hot. i must say that the prices are not the same as they are out of season , but its still well worth every penny.
Check out McDonald promotions they dont do them in England for us it was buy extra large meal and buy a beach towel for 1euro (saw a lot of the towels on the beach lol ) Selwo is a must the dolphin show is amazing. Went on the boat Magic next to the ferry to take you to fuingarola this was the best trip i have ever been on and my girls got to swim in 200mt deep sea plus we saw the dolphins as well. The CHARE hospital if you ever have to use it is the free hospital the other one you have to pay , I know this by experience as i did have to go you need passport and E111 they were really lovely. buses cheap and easy , Beach is clean and sea is safe
i dont want to bore you any longer just go and have a great time

Arroya is a Spanish town a few miles from Benalmadena Costa on route to Benamadena Pueblo. It is a wonderful town. There are shops of all types, bars, restaurants, tapas bars and the most amazing bakeries which sell all types of fresh bread daily. You will also find the station here which gives an excellent service to Fuengirola or Malaga and the airport.
There is a market every Friday from 8-2pm, which sells more or less everything!
It is great to just chill out and people watch whilst enjoying the local beer and some tapas.
You must visit Arroya. The local Spanish people are so friendly and welcoming.

I think this place is better than torremolinos town centre, lots of lovely boutiques up the side streets and I found it alot cheaper than its neighbour.

Very pretty Spanish town with oodles of shops and cafes. Laid back atmosphere. Very neat and clean. A good place to spend a few hours wandering around. Search out some of the hidden plazas with their numerous cafes.
