Relaxing trip with the boat Colorado (ca. 30 people). Very experienced crew and captain who managed the boat well through the quiet rough open sea on this windy day. Amazing beaches and views. Awesome communication by our guide Leticia - thank you for the 5 whole and four half waves 😉

The title sounds a bit alarming but thou fear not! :-)

It is a very well organized 7 hour tour on Maddalena Archipelago.
€35 worth of quick overview of islands of Santa Maria, Budelli, Spargi and La Maddalena. En route there are 2 stops (an hour and half each) on beaches for swimming, sunbathing and snorkeling. The last stop before Palau is (for an hour only, unfortunately) at La Maddalena, a picturesque little town on the island of the same name (see my photos of each island where we disembarked).

A nice and recommendable thing-to-do while in Palau or nearby.
Generally a flawless trip, however there was one disappointing thing I must mention of. Well, they advertise the trip price of €35 does include a lunch.
Hmm... I would be ashamed to put a plate of "that" in front of my guests...(see the photo of so-called Maggior Leggero lunch ;-)
My piece of advice: If you intend to serve "that", you'd better serve nothing.

Today, I had the pleasure of touring the Archipelago of La Maddalena aboard Maggior Leggero. The boat departed La Maddalena at 10:30 and cruised the waters of the archipelago, taking in all the wonderful scenery. The boat passed by intricate rock formations that have been carved out through time by the elements and various military and historical landmarks. Every aspect of the tour is explained in four different languages so that all aboard are well informed. Not only was the scenery absolutely stunning, but the time spent at various beaches during our tour was really a treat. The knowledge and customer service of the crew members was by far the stand out feature of this trip. Every member of the crew was helpful, courteous and attentive to all aboard.
Accomodations: very comfortable, plenty of space for myself and my personal items. Shade and sunlit areas available
Service: outstanding! The customer service is top notch. Knowledgeable, courteous, attentive.
Food and beverage: the boat offers various food and beverage items for purchase at their bar. Various pasta dishes, salads, fried fish, and even a typical Sardinian dessert are available to order. Various sandwiches and light snack items are also available. The bar serves hot and cold drinks to order and various refrigerated soft drinks, beer, wine and juices.
I highly recommend this boat tour. I spent a very enjoyable day exploring this beautiful landscape and the breathtaking beaches that the Archipelago of La Maddalena has to offer. I will definitely repeat this boat tour!

As an avid traveller I don’t know how this tour is so well rated. Firstly we sat on the stationary boat for 50 mins after the required meeting time. The tour information given is minimal, in fact I can’t ever recall a day later a single fact or piece of information of interest. There is no advice or info given to protect these beautiful areas, we were told it’s forbidden to smoke in the national park however people were smoking but nobody did a thing, in fact crew don’t even come off the boat with you. No information or advice given in regards to protecting the wildlife, tourists feeding, trying to pet and shouting at a wild boar, interfering with wildlife in this way can actually be detrimental to their wellbeing and upsets the natural balance. Also saw another lady stabbing jellyfish with sticks trying to extract them from the water, again no advice or supervision to stop this. On return to the boat after one stop there was a crew member housing feet down, I asked him please not to wet mine as my sandals were made from suede, to this he responded with something clearly quite rude and derogatory which I could not understand, thank fully. You don’t get to see much due to other tourists running from 1 side of the bot to the other to take pictures. One guy was stung by a jellyfish while swimming, there wasn’t a single mention of jellyfish potentially being in the swimming areas as a warning. Lastly the pasta served on board was vile, I chose the NON seafood option as I don’t eat shellfish, basically was a bowl of dry cooked pasta with a sprinkle of cheese on top. Personally did not have an enjoyable day and I wouldn’t recommend.

We're a group of 4 adults and 1 infant. Booked this tour 3 or 4 days in advance. Left early so we can get to Palau and board at 10 for departure at 11. The traffic was extremely bad nearby the port and we waited in the queues for approximately 1 hour. Got to the destination where it was impossible to find parking (despite the fact that pretty much everyone is driving a car in Sardinia - we rented one for the holiday). Had to go in circles through the town as there are many one way streets and parked 15 mins away. Then walked back and went through the stands at the port as the address says 'Box No', couldn't find the Maggior Leggero box or stand easily as it is acually located in the Maritime Building or something. After finally getting to the boat, two of the staff members completely ignored us as we were with a baby (despite the fact that it says you can pay €10 for children this young - 1 year old). One of the staff members actually tried to take off and hit my hand with the knotted anchor rope while pretending he didn't see me. They shouted 'sorry Lady'. After that he simply said 'boat is full' and took off pointing at the second staff member who was a lady that remained in the port. The lady asked what reservation name, and just said I quote: 'Ah, Dina, si...' and didn't even explain or apologise but acknowledged she knew about our reservation without even looking at my confirmation email. I believe they took other people on board despite the fact we had a reservation/'prenotatione'. Then we saw other people queuing and boarding other similar boats late as they were running to pass the traffic and get there. So turns out other tour boats were trying to accommodate even people without a reservation in advance/'prenotatione'. An apology would have been appreciated (in english or Italian even - as we speak a little Italian) bearing in mind we woke up really early in the morning and travelled there with an infant as well as a pregnant lady. But no, staff were really ignorant and careless. I do not recommend them nor would I board their tour boat in the future.

I am giving this rating after a second experience on another tour at "Golfo degli Orosei", which was incredibly nice and well organized, so I have a positive comparison for a fair opinion. In "Arcipelago della Maddalena" we chose the tour with the boat Colorado. In general the tour was ok, the places very beautiful and we had enough time to enjoy the beaches or to swim and do snorkeling. The crew was not particularly nice, but I would not have much to complain about if not for being left alone on the island "Spargi". And it is important to specify that we WERE NOT LATE, but the Colorado crew decided to leave 20 minutes before the communicated appointment, just because of few drops of rain. Luckily, a fisherman on the island took us back to the Colorado with his boat. The very annoying thing was that the captain did not even bother to say "sorry, it was our mistake, we miscounted the passengers". He simply ignored us and my complaints. I am Italian, so the reason surely was not a language problem. I decided to choose this company cause it did not have any negative comment on leaving passengers behind (as many others did), but apparently we were not lucky enough to be considered.

There are number of trips available with many companies, so you have to choose availability on the preferred day. We chose three outer islands and Maddalena town and I believe was the best for number of reasons: (1) you don't need much time to walk in Maddalena town, an hour is enough to walk through narrow streets and enjoy a drink somewhere; (2) when it comes to beaches, they are the best on three smaller islands; (3) choosing the above package it was a good balance between sailing and seeing a lot and beach time. Food on boat only for those who are hungry, but white wine is inexpensive and great Vermentino as everywhere in Sardinia.
IMPORTANT! leave time for parking before the boat departure as parking can be stressful as well as takes a bit of time to navigate to your boat.

It was a very nice day: start at 10:15, return at ca. 18:00, swimming around the islands with stops for swimming (15 minutes + 2 stops of ca. 1,5 hours on two nice beaches + 1 h stop in Maddalena city). Good views and good swimming.

The guide (Claudia?) tirelessly spoke in Italian, good English, French and Spanish. Overall nice staff.

Reasonable bar prices (e.g. glass of wine 2,5 EUR, meals 5-12 EUR).

Well spent 45 EUR p.p. (2021, direct booking). Off-season we booked just the day before, but in season it is probably better to book a little in advance.

The boat is one of the big ones, it has 3 rows 3-seats each. I think it i better to seat on the right.

Maybe the best boat tour we ever had! We took the Colorado at La Maddalena pier at 10am with the first stop at Palau. We were 8 passengers in total plus the amazing and extremely professional crew along with Leticia, our fantastic guide showing us all beautiful spots in a perfect Italian and English. The archipelago is breathless and we had more than enough time to swim and sunbathe. Weather was not perfect (a bit windy) but we really enjoyed it. Thank you so much guys and we hope to see you soon! Keep it up!
