A slight detour off the road between Bourg Saint Maurice and Beaufort takes you a couple of kms to the car park where you can catch a Navette or start a 4km walk (or we took the bikes out of the back and cycled). All aspects of the place made it good to explore from the diversity of wildlife to excellent Walking. The Valley gave me my first sighting close up of Wild Ibex and Marmots. Col des Fours down into the valley was a good long decent. The trail to Riff Robert de Blanc was quite rugged and well marked on the way... More

We came down into the Valley from Cole Des Fours so we were viewing it from above for quite some time. It get its name from the Aiguille Des Glaciers which is the spiky hill you are walking up the valley towards.

As part of our TMB walk this was a relatively easy but picturesque walk up from Les Chapieux (though you can even catch a bus part way). Don't expect too many glaciers though, they are long gone.
