Surprisingly great!

I was surprised at how great this place was for our family. We went to the aquarium next door and stumbled upon this place via trip advisor. We flew through the aquarium and felt as though we needed another activity.
Once we got here we wish we had had more time to spend at this gem. There were so many animals to pet and to see, interactive playground equipment, a circular pond with canoes, and a variety of carnival rides all included in admission. We didn’t have time to check out the demonstrations or the food but my husband it looked appealing.

Great place for small children
Aug 2019 • Family
We visited with our three children 6, 4 and 4. Plenty to entertain them and very enjoyable for the adults too. Not too busy and queues all manageable. Lovely vintage fairground rides, the horse track was a particular favourite and unusual. We paid €5 to hire a boat and go around the lake which was very peaceful. Plenty of picnic spots and ice cream up by the big wheel was good quality and not too expensive. Restaurant looked lovely but not suitable for our fussy eaters unfortunately. Going in the buildings was really interesting, particularly the mill. We made use of the second free visit with the ticket and still didn't see everything

Fabulous
Aug 2019 • Family
A friend had told me about this place a few years ago and I was keen to visit when we were in the area. It didn’t disappoint. It was fun, charming, clean, well organized, unique, and well worth a day and the entry fee.

The food was good at the snack bar but not cheap (as expected).

Lots of fun for our four children aged 4-11.

Some rides the smaller children couldn’t go on but not many - three or four. And the boating lake was fun but quite a long route for the rower. And was extra.

Lovely live museum
Aug 2019 • Family
This is a love museum so you see people working like they would have years ago; someone working as a soap maker, making leather, making bread etc.

Was really great but as it's all outdoor I'd advise to wear loads of sun cream in summer.

The kids (teens) got to go on a boat ride, merry-go-round, Ferris wheel etc. (Only the boat is an additional payment of €5.

Got to see and stroke some farm animals too.

It was really lovely and would go again.

Good day out
Aug 2019 • Family
We stayed on the campsite next door to the park and they had an agreement with the park. You showed proof that you were on the camping and you paid once and had free entry for rest of your stay, Bargain. Lots to do and see, good day out.

We've been back 3 times over successive years
Aug 2019
Le Bournat is simple, fab, fun. It isn't your out and out 'amazing' whatever, it is just really, really good. So much so that every time we go, we love it.

This year we again said, we'd like to go and before we knew it, 5pm was coming up and we needed to get back to our site. It is lovely and easy going. We had a delightful charcuterie board with local beer and home baked bread followed by a meandering wander round a fraction of the attractions. Our boys (8&6) loved it (again).

Just go!

Full day out
Jul 2019 • Family
Visited on market day (Tuesday) traffic terrible but worth the wait to get in. Parking is free - request a token on entry. €43 for a family of four. Once in all the rides are free except the boats (€5). Kept us busy for the whole day and there's an option to get a free second day.
The rides are all pre war and I'm amazed that are still running. The children loved it.

We really enjoyed all the artisan demonstrations. As previous reviews state there are no translations. However this did not affect our enjoyment.

Our only suggestion would be for the main shop to sell more from the workshops. The crafts people were so busy demonstrating that it was tricky for them to sell their wares.

We are at Chez Paul the main restaurant. Service is very quick however not for picky/fussy younger eaters (no chips/frites on the kids menu). Ours are adventurous and enjoyed the steak hache, duck confit etc etc.

Felt a bit unloved. Improved as you got further into the park
May 2019
After entering the park my heart sank a little as we turned the corner and saw some very tatty looking rides and sorry looking goats and chickens. The kids enjoyed themselves on a rickety carrousel nonetheless though my husband and I were considering going to ask for our money back. However we persevered and continued into the park. Things did improve and overall the experience was a good one. We were there in low-season and later in the day so did not see all of the demos available and those that we did see had all the commentary in French. Whilst this was fine for me, the rest of my family don’t have any French language abilities so I was either having to translate or just let them watch with no commentary. I don’t expect there to be a translator or for he demonstrators to be multilingual, it is just something to bear in mind if you are not a French speaker. Yes we’re offered a free return visit, however as we went on our last day of holiday were unable to take advantage of that. If you are nearby and have younger children I think it would be worth doing in two trips as the park is actually fairly large and there is quite a lot to see and do, though for non French speakers that entails mainly old fairground rides which have frankly seen better days.

Great place

A really fun visit and the kids really enjoyed it. Rides for the children, artisans making a variety of items from soap to oil, bread and glass ware. There were farm animals as well. The setting is great and the on site restaurants were also perfect. Highly recommended for a fun visit

A good site for all the family, it is a reconstruction of a early 20th century French village with mill, bakers, church, farm, potter, knife maker, walnut oil manufacture etc. There are regular talks at various parts of the site. The food outlets are good value with varied menu. It is a lovely way to spend the day, especially with children as the fairground rides are all included in the price. There is ample parking outside.
