Overview
More
Domaine Marcel DEISS is located in Bergheim, a small village nestling in the heart of the wine region of Alsace, equidistant from the northern and southern boundaries of the region. Current winemaker Jean-Michel DEISS was born into a long-established family of wine growers, living at BERGHEIM since 1744.Managed today by Jean-Michel DEISS, the domaine consists of 26 hectares (52 acres) of hillside vineyards spread over 9 communes and approximately 20 kilometers .The extreme variation in conditions of production at the domaine have led Jean-Michel DEISS to seek to express in each wine the three factors that make a wine complete : the grape variety, the vintage and the terroir. The greater the wine, the more the gustatory characteristics linked to the soil take the place of the typicity linked to grape variety or vintage. When speaking of terroir, the following have to be taken into consideration : geology, pedology, climate and microclimate, technical exploitation of the character of the soil, microfauna and flor, and the traditional methods and techniques used to produce wines. The wine shop is open from 9.00 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 18.00 from monday to friday. Saturday from 10.00 to 12.00 and 14.00 to 18.00 The estate is closed on saturday on Jannuary, Frbruary and march. For a tasting, better to take appointment. In any case no tasting would start after 11.00 on the morning and 17.00 on the afternoon. The tasting cost 15€/pax which will be deduced from purchases over 50€/pax.

It was the third time I returned to Marcel Deiss to taste and buy their excellent wines. Even if I and my partner arrived 20 mins before the closing hour (and we didn't really expect to be able to have a tasting), we have been...More

If your love warm, nice and charming welcome, don't go to the Maison Marcel Deiss. Not only you have to pay 15 euros for a degustation (reimbursed if you buy at least 50 euros of wines), but if you haven't booked a tasting in advance,...More

Jean Michel Deiss is sometimes called an enfant terrible amongst the large number of wine growers in Alsace. His philosophy of stepping of from the traditional way of making single grape variety wines and embracing the method of complantation where various grape varieties are grown...More

I just stopped by the office and simply asked to taste some wines because I wanted to purchase the valued Alsace white, but I was declined simply because they only accept reserved customers. All other wineries are mostly friendly and welcome the customers to taste...More

You can just walk in for a wine tasting, just check the opening hours. The tasting room is a bit sterile, their vision about wine making (the type of ground determines the wine/taste) is very interesting. If you are in the neighborhood, go there, but...More
