Cape Sounion and Temple of Poseidon Half-Day Small-Group Tour from Athens

262 reviews
Unless you hire a car, visiting Cape Sounion from Athens independently means a relatively long bus journey, with multiple stops. This half-day, small-group tour provides an easy alternative, with air-conditioned minivan travel, guided commentary on the cape’s Temple of Poseidon, and ample time to admire the ruins and Aegean views. A choice of departures allows for a sunset visit, plus there’s a beach break en route as a bonus.

Great beach, lovely warm beautiful sea for swimming. We arrived about 10.30 on a week day and got two sunbeds in the front row for 30 euros, so good value. I think pre booking and weekends are more expensive. Nice lunch and lovely staff. Food and drinks can be delivered to your sunbed if you require by pressing a call button. A great way to spend the day, facilities are great, good showers, hairdryers etc. We watched the sun go down an amazing view from our sunbeds!

A huge beach with stunning views of the coastline and at lounger push of a button service. It was very quiet when we went due to being off season and covid so we paid €30 for two loungers on the front row. Although when full I imagine it’s far less peaceful! We paid €14 for lunch. The sea is very shallow for a long walk out, so good for kids, but also adults too as the buoys marking the edge are far out to sea so one can swim for a long stretch. Remember your suncream otherwise you’ll pay €24 for a regular bottle of Nivea or Amber Solear at the shop!

My wife and I loved it here. It’s a higher end beach club, which is exactly what we wanted after a couple of days sight seeing in the centre of Athens. The beds are comfortable and the waiter service is quick and efficient. The general vibe is chilled and relaxed, we were here early in the week and it was pretty quiet. I imagine it’s busy at the weekend, but a cool place for a cocktail. The sandy beach is beautiful, the water crystal clear and you get a stunning view of the sunset. The price is on the high side, €80 for two beds and parasol on the front row if you pre-book on the website. But as Athens is very quite atm we decided to rock up about 10.30am without booking. If you don’t reserve a bed the price is substantially cheaper, we paid €50 on the door for the same thing. We’d definitely go back.

I spend one day at Astir Beach Club at the end of August and I definitely can recommend that place. The beach and sea are beautiful, the service is fast and friendly, the showers are clean, the changing rooms spacious. The guests were a mix of young people, couples and families with small kids. Even though there were some kids playing around it was possible to relax and spend a good time at Astir Beach. The only disadvantage was the fact that guests did not get towels for the sunbeds but have to bring their own ones due to Covid-19. There is a shop next to the restaurant where it’s possible to buy towels in case you don’t bring one. In the evening you can enjoy a beautiful sunset at the beach! I would visit Astir Beach Club again next time I’m in Athens.

Really bad. They don't allow service dogs. So a blind person who wants to go to Astir beach cannot go. The law mandates premises to allow service dogs, so they violate the law. Would not recommend.
