Healing water, great food and beverage...there is nothing lacking from this serene and unique lake in Athens. Just be sure not to swim too far out as there are dangerous currents from the underwater currents and canals. Definitely a great place to visit and soak...More

Glad we chose to take a few hours to explore the lake and the surrounding shopping area and restaurants. The lake is fed by underground currents and, even on a chilly day, people were swimming. Some people were sitting on the steps allowing the spa...More

We hiked around the lake with guides and enjoyed the unique Attica nature and its heavenly views. A few brave colleagues later swam in the lake and we stayed there until sunset enjoying hot drinks. This is an great place to visit.

We stopped at this small lake on our way to the Temple of Poseidon. We did not swim but it was interesting to learn that it was a thermal lake and one of the very few lakes in Greece.

Vouliagmeni lake and Sounio transportation doubts (2 Replies)
I am planning to take public transport to Vouliagmeni lake and then to Sounio and I have two questions. 1.I will be buying the 3 days Athens Pass.Does this pass cover the bus route 122 from ST.Elliniko to Lake Vouliagmeni? 2.The KTEL bus from Vouliagmeni to sounio is infrequent .So I am planning to take taxi in this route. Are taxis readily available in lake Vouliagmeni and what would be the cost? Thanks!

Don't know about the bus tour, but taxis are very readily available in Athens. It is like New York. If you wait at a "corner" you will find one relatively quickly. Rates are very, very reasonable compared to other countries and drivers are usually honest.

Going to Vouliagmeni Lake and Temple of Poseidon in Sounion? (5 Replies)
I will be visiting Athens in July. I would like to spend a day outside Athens by first visiting Lake Vouliagmeni, and then afterwards head to the Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion. I heard that sunset is the best time to visit this temple. How can I visit these two places in one day using public transport? I would appreciate if someone tells me the times, stations and cost. If it makes any difference, I will be staying in Athens Centre Square. Thanks!

Thanks, a lot. By any chance, do you know the stops that the KTEL bus stops at?
