🚨 it’s a big Scam! Had to pay a lot of money to come here. Thought it was for the bed. In the end after I was lying on a sun bed in 3 hours and paid for a lot of expensive drinks, they demand 40 euro for the beds. No signs and no one told us I had to pay a fortune to take one of the empty beds…. It’s many of them here. Really bad service and the food taste really bad. Scam alert 🚨 i askes them to charge my phone and put it in flight mode for faster charge. When I got it back, no batteries and flight mode was turned of. Weird.

Overrated,expensive, under serviced, experience. 2adults and 1child: $150 only for admission. That price gets you an umbrella and a set of chairs. No drinks / No water included. A beach for the pretentious middle class of Athens where everything is overpriced and the service genuinely misses the mark in almost every way. If you are able to see past that, and pay for food, you realize that it’s worth much less than how initially horrible the experience seems, The food is processed…really any run of the mill fast food canteen/ food truck in Athens provides the same. Asteras, get your sh@t together!

This beach isn’t worth visiting. Nothing nice to see, and everything is very expensive. I spent around an hour to get there, and all I wanted to turn around and go back to the hotel. We had lunch in a restaurant, the service was awful and food is much better in the city centre. My advise is not to go to this place.

Very rude staff!!! Very expensive this year 8 euro for a beach full with bacteria. Thats awfull. My friend had some dermatological problem after she swimm in this beach. There is better beaches that this one. Dont deserve give ur money to them and treat you like a animal

Asteras is a private beach, but with reasonable entry fee. We were by car exploring the area and found it closed with heavy machinery in front. We were not bothered by that as we were driving, so we just proceeded to the next one, but I suppose it could affect people who came here on purpose by bus.
Glyfada has many other beaches, many of them free so it's not hard to find your spot.

Public beach and an electric tram connecting the entire coast. He saved our lives because in July it is very hot to walk. Nearby are several villages, some with shops, restaurants and plenty of life. It was also ideal to discover Athens, (it's half an hour in Tram) and then cool off again

Not the sea you would expect going to Greece, surely, but great for a day off between visits to the capital and another.
Easily accessible by taking the metro from downtown to Neo Faliro and boarding tram line 7. Free beaches with showers and some umbrellas, there are also facilities that make the sea accessible to people with difficulties / disabilities.

As an American ex-pat now living in Glyfada a few blocks from the beach, I'd like to give a few tips for visitors:
(1) "Asteras" is the old name for the for-pay beach that's on the south end of Glyfada, across the Posidonos coastal highway from the Blazer Suites and Golden Sun hotels. The beach is now known as Balux. The Asteras sign is still at the entry, but is dwarfed by Balux signs. There are also Trip Advisor reviews for the same beach listed under Balux Cafe and Balux Seaside. The photo shown for this set of reviews is many, many years old and doesn't reflect what's there now.
(2) The Balux company operates the beach, the restaurant on the beach, and the swimming pool pavillion. The cost for a non-Glyfada resident to enter the beach/pool is 5.00 euros weekdays and 8 euros weekends. (No fee if you're just there to eat at the restaurant.) The money buys you a sunbed and umbrella. You bring your own towels. The beach has changing rooms, very decent bathrooms, not-so decent indoor showers and an outdoor shower at the far north end of the beach where you can rinse off the salt. The beach is wide and sandy and patrolled by employees who make sure you can leave your personal items while swimming without worry that they'll be stolen. The sand is clean and well maintained. The landscaping is attractive. There's a lifeguard. Starting in summer 2020, the umbrellas are spaced for appropriate social distancing. I also saw employees disinfecting unused sunbeds.
(3) There is free valet parking. You are not allowed to park your car yourself.
(4) The beach area takes up virtually all of a large bay. The water is calm and shallow with sandy bottom. You have to walk out quite far to get in over your head. As far as the water goes, the reviews (under Asteras and Balux) are all over the place. Some reviewers call it crystal clear. Others call it murky and polluted. Both are right. It depends on the prevailing winds. If the winds are basically from the north, the water is crystal clear and delightfully clean. If they are basically from the south, the water is murky and unpleasant. Before going to the beach, Glyfada residents typically check the internet to see which way the winds are blowing. If they're from the south, they either forget beaching it or go to Vouliagmeni to swim.
(5) You can bring your own food/drinks to eat on the beach, be served from the Balux restaurant menu at your sunbed, or eat in the restaurant itself. The restaurant is attractive, large, and sprawling with various rooms, outdoor spaces and beach bar. California shabby-chic decor. The menu is international and in the evening, includes sushi and pizza. The food is good but not spectacular. The prices are very high for Greece. The service is slow and disorganized. The music, especially at night during dinner hours, is loud. (At night, the place is basically taken over by wealthy 20-40 year olds on dates or looking to get lucky.) During the day, the place is very family friendly. There's even a playroom manned by one or two young women who will watch your kids while you go off for adult time. There is also an outdoor playground, but it's usually empty because most families play on the beach itself.
(5) If you're looking for a place to swim in the southern suburbs, by far the best swimming is the organized beach at Vouliagmeni, which is operated by a different company than Asteras/Balux but has essentially the same setup. That beach is pebbly and the water is turquoise blue and incredible. Balux/Asteras beach is the second best swimming on the southern coast outside of Athens. The sandy "Astir" beach, also in Vouliagmeni, is also good but it costs 120 euros per head to enter. Definitely not worth the cost.

the name is actually the Asteria beach in Glyfada. There is also another beach called the Asteras Beach in Vouliagmeni, about 8 kms further down the coast.
The Asteria in Glyfada its a nice organised beach with a 6 euro entrance and half price for children and seniors over 60. Price includes the use of chairs or sun beds and a shared parasol but in August it can be difficult to find after 10am so you need to search. There is a self service cafe and a proper cafe and a nice sit down restaurant that is really romantic for the evenings. The beach has lifesaver duty, first aid, toilets, changing cabins and a childrens playground.
Note that the water is shallow till quite far out, and that is why its popular with families and small children. if you walk further out you can swim just fine. Water is checked yearly and is clean

Asteras is Balux i believe just a name change. We were able to access all the areas after we paid. I would not recommend going on a saturday afternoon. We came during the week around 11:30 and it was already packed. We sat 3 or 4 rows back. If you're willing to go a bit further, I recommend Astir Beach way over Asteras. They have a section that isnt private and still nicer. Asteras was smokey, trashy, and loud.

Sorry, I just saw this reply, I think there is a misunderstanding. Astir beach and Asteras is the same beach. Astir is the "old fashioned" name of Asteras. Asteria is another beach near Glyfada. In Vouliagmeni Astir or Asteras is the one and only glamorous beach. I am sorry if I confused you

The ticket for Asteras beach is not the same for the whole beach. If You want to visit Balux poolside, You must pay 9 eu.
