Incredible view to the temple of Poséidon. I do not know if it’s because of COVID-19 or not but the beach was not to busy. It was a very clean beach also.
The only thing, is that to enjoy the beach you have to pay 5€ per person. Paying to go to the beach or to get a tan is a little bit crazy for me. That was my first time.
It is why I only give 3 stars.

spent the afternoon there playing in the water with kids and snorkeling. We had dinner next door outside on the cliff overlooking the bay. Its a very beautiful location which unfortunately is not maintained. There's garbage in the water, on the beach, in the parking lots and on the cliffs overlooking the water. Really unfortunate that the companies (resort, restaurants) that make money because its so beautiful don't respect the location enough to clean up the garbage.

The photos and descriptions in your review refer to the public area outside the organized beach Sounio beach of the hotel, specifically below the tavernas that are not affiliated with the hotel. The organized beach of Sounio Beach within the hotel premises is clean, equipped with a lifeguard, showers, clean restrooms, and two beach bars. Since your review does not relate to the organized Sounio Beach of Aegeon beach hotel, the hotel itself, or its parking facilities, please remove it from the Sounio Beach listing.

Great beach in the shadow of the Temple of Poseidon. Crystal clear water, can walk out for 30-40 yards to waist high water. Sandy beach with a few easily visible rocks on the sea floor. Gets crowded but umbrellas and sun beds are well spaced. Definitely worth a visit, decent tavernas within walking distance.

Nice beach, great landscape with ancient ruins.
I recommend to go there in the afternoon, because you can enjoy a very beautiful sunset.

Although the location is beautiful the staff is not helping the customers find an umbrella and seats on the beach and they prefer to kick them out instead. The behavior is really rude as if the seats were not expensive enough. Total disappointment for such an old establishment.

We have a summer home in sounio so this beach is within walking distance. I love this beach. I've only been going for the last 6 years but I can say the beach is exactly the same as it was when I first stepped foot on it. It brings back memories and at the same time, gives me pleasant new ones with my growing family. I love this beach, hope it never changes.

The Sounio beach is just beneath the Temple of Poseidon in a nice bay. The whole bay is visible from the Temple site and while up sweating and exploring the site, it's tempting you to go down and take a swim in that heat.
There's parking around and you have a small free part, and a bigger part of the beach with sunbeds and umbrellas provided.
Water is crystal clear, with great views up to the Temple. There are few tavernas and bars.

Is the water too cold to swim around this time of the year?
Written January 9, 2019
I believe that it is not a pleasant experience swimming in January. From my experiences after mid March, unless the winter was very cold, you can consider swimming, as a part of activities there.

Dear All!
Could you please confirm how we can get to Sounio Beach from Athen's city center by public transportation? What is the easiest/quickest way from the center to the beach?
Many thanks!
Written August 15, 2018
Good evening!
You can take the bus to Sounio from Areos square in Athens.
The cost for 1 umbrella and 2 sunbeds is 10 euro for the daily days and 15 euro for the weekends.
Best regards,
Georgia

Can you walk from the beach to the temple? What is best way to get to the breach from center of athen ? Anyone have an idea on what cab ride would cost for family of five. Thanks
Written June 24, 2018
You can easily walk to the Temple from the beach. I'm not sure the best way to get there. Our hotel arranged transfer.

Is there easy access to this beach, for people that cannot walk long distances and handle many steps?
Written February 26, 2018
Hi, yes the access is very easy. you can park very near the beach (at least when not in peak hours) and walk on flat surface. The archaeological site on top is also accessible by car and easy to walk at least to its cafe for the nice view.
Which period do you plan to visit?
