This is such a gorgeous place for a day trip from Dallas or for a special dinner or event. Worth the drive. Mitas Hill is especially beautiful on a crisp fall evening. Definitely try the smores dessert!

Mitas Hill has a huge vineyard located just outside of McKinney. Their property is beautiful. I really appreciate that they grow so many varietals in North Texas. Many people will try to tell you that you can't grow a wide variety of grapes outside of the South Plains but that is not true, and Mitas Hill is a great example. Their wines are good, too. Sit by the big windows in the tasting room and try them all. They are one of the few vineyards in the country growing the Venus grape, and the Black Gypsy wine made from it is very good. We didn't get any food this time, but it looked and smelled amazing so we'll have to travel back that way again in the future.

What a wonderful experience! Heard so much about this place from some of our friends, we decided to go for lunch. We had the Chicken Chipotle pizza, crust was very good, not too thin and not too thick - just right! The adobo sauce was very good as well, had a little zing to it, but not too much heat. Since this was a spur of the moment decision, we did not have reservations to do the wine tour. We were so impressed by the property, we promptly asked about it and they were very accommodating to get us in at the last minute. Our tour was very educational and we were so impressed with the quality of grape they grow. I am very skeptical about Texas wine in general, so thought this would just be another mediocre wine experience. I was completely wrong. Their Zinfandel, Tempranillo and Syrah are very good, my favorite was the Zinfandel. We will definitely be back to try more of their food items, hang out on the patio and drink some very nice wine. The wine is reasonably priced, so stock up!

Harold, the owner, spared no expense establishing his winery, and it shows in the quality of the grapes, the taste of the wines, and the beautiful buildings and settings. Online hours may post as closed, but I suggest you call to see if they are indeed open. Eboni did a wonderful job pouring for us and talking with us, and made our visit very enjoyable. There was another man working there, sorry I forgot his name, that is very knowledgeable about wines, and really gave us an education.
The wines lean toward heavy reds, and are all excellent. They had an excellent Tempranillo.

Tucked away in the northern slice of McKinney Texas is a small, quaint viineyard that has tours, tastings and casual dining options.
We ate in the bar area and although there was a lack of comfort with hard chairs, close tables and little elbow room, the staff was friendly and the food was good.
The wine by the bottle is more than reasonably priced. We had a charcuterie board that lacked depth and quantity. Only 2 selections of meat, 2 sliced cheeses, grapes and packaged crackers. It felt as though it was picked up at the local Kroger and put on a wooden cutting board.
The best option is the wood-fired pizzas. Our "Forest" pizza was loaded with mushrooms, glazed with a balsamic reduction that offered just a hint of sweetness. The pizza is worth the trip alone.
Our waiter, Emma, was polite, friendly and smiling.
I will return but will add a tour and tasting next time.

Gorgeous facility. Plenty of tables, many by windows, surround a fire pizza oven and bar area. Outdoor seating overlooking beautifully manicured vineyards is available for those who prefer fresh air. Two large rooms are also available for private parties. The grounds go on for acres. Mitas Hill is tucked away from any main road a seems like well kept secret. Vineyard tours are available. Pizza has a light a fluffy crust and is cooked well. Food menu has enough to please most and food items are presented nicely. Red wines are made from vineyard grapes. Tastings are offered and brought to the table at the same time with wine name cards so you can enjoy your tastings at your leisure. There is a nice selection of average wine but they are a bit pricey for what you get. We enjoy our time there and get lost in the serene atmosphere and lovely environment. Has great potential to be a huge success but where are all the patrons? Perhaps bringing in some local musicians or offering special events outside of parties would market this beautiful venue and make it a more popular spot.

This place is adorable and so fun! My husband and I had wine and wood fired pizzas outside. The lights at night are so charming. We've been twice and I would definitely go back. Great friendly service too!

We visited Mitas Hill on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate my parents 56 wedding anniversary. It was by far the best wine tour/wine tasting we have done and we have done a lot. josh first drove us in golf cart that holds 8 people all around the vineyard to see the grapevines and explain the whole process from the start. Then we toured the wine making/bottling area. Then we went inside the amazingly beautiful facility to taste wine and later eat there handcrafted pizza. The wine was excellent and the pizza was the best we ever tasted. The tour was really informative and Josh does a great job explaining and answering questions. We can't wait to go back. It's obvious that the people working their really love their work. We spent about 4 hours there and it was highly enjoyable. Josh gives a fantastic tour Very personable.

Oddly enough, an aerial view on Google Maps found this winery for us.
We were looking for a winery to spend time away from children, and stumbled on the Mitas Hill Vineyard by accident.
A very nice place with lots of amenities on the property (aside from the wine).
Open patio as well as seating inside. Sunday Brunch menu, Meeting rooms for private events, Soccer field, baseball backstop and tennis courts. They even have a tram that will drive you around the property as part of the tour.
