Go for beautiful, awesome views and the rose or tempernillo. The food is bland. Steaks are sub par. The meat plate didn't include cheeses and was not fresh. Would not remove the total $22 for a plate missing half and half not fresh. Took $5 off lol. Wine and views are fantastic though so it pains me the food is so lacking!! I so want it to be good. They need a food consultant to come in and fix the pizzas and wine bar bites and give the dishes in the steakhouse a real flavor and edge. Recommend for a patio visit with a glass of wine. Marie, one of the managers, is amazing.

I do not normally write posts on social media but was looking up information on Mitas Vineyard to pass along to a friend, found the posts here. My fiance and I looked at this beautiful vineyard for our wedding earlier this summer. Cricket Killingsworth was the person who was the main reasons we wanted to have our wedding there. She came in on her day off to show us the facility, gave us a wonderful tour of the grounds, She shared great information, was very knowledgeable and passionate about her job and the vineyard. She is a family member but does not live on the compound. She made us feel like we were family too! We did not choose the vineyard because the owners of Mitas Vineyard did not have menus or food pricing finalized but still wanted a non refundable deposit of $1,000 dollars. They also did not know if they would or would not allow alcohol at that time and also could not tell us other important planning answers needed for us. We are sure it would have been beautiful and were very confident Cricket was organized, professional and kind, it was the owners who were not yet ready or organized. We now live out of state but hope to visit the vineyard and steak house restaurant when visiting family in Texas. The person who said they cancelled their tour of the vineyard but complained about the website and coordinator missed out, it is a beautiful place and after working out the kinks we are sure the owners will be more organized.

There is a magical vineyard and winery tucked away in the countryside near McKinney, Texas called Mitas Hill Vineyard. Upon entering the stone and iron gated entrance you begin to feel like you are in Sonoma as you drive past mature grape vines on your drive to the Tasting Room. The current Tasting Room is located on a hill that overlooks the vineyard and is adjacent to a beautiful rock swimming pool with water cascading over a waterfall. The tour began with the owners son who has a love of the family vineyard and the wines they make. The tour will take you all the way from planting to bottling to sampling in a way that I have not experienced anywhere in Texas. And to date, I have toured about 80% of the wineries in Texas. And Mitas Hill's wines are truly magical. The tasting started off with their red blend. It has great body, a complex taste due to careful blending, that is rich in texture and flavor. Their Syrah was next, and the Syrah is amazing. It's nose is captivating. It's color beautiful. Fruit forward and complex character. This is a must have for your cellar. Their Cabernet followed with a beautiful color of rose (They even call it Rose). It is a light bodied cabernet that captures all of the essences of a great cabernet without being powerful. Their Tempranillo was next with a light and spicy beginning, a light smokey mouth feel, and a light pepper finish. If you think tempranillos are too bold, you must try this Tempranillo. Their Zinfandel followed, and this is a Zinfandel that you will never forget. It's berry & floral nose will capture your senses. It's taste will leave you wondering exactly how many wonderful flavors are teasing your senses. Cognac, plum and raisin dance in your mouth. It's finish is brilliant. Another to stock up on for your cellar and buy for your friends. Their Black Gypsy was next, and is not to be missed. It is made from the venus grape, which is oh so rare. It is semi sweet with flavors of melons, papayas and watermelon. This is the perfect wine to drink after a long hot summer day. The tasting concluded with their Squeeze Penny, which is a delightful after dinner wine. It's chocolate nose is calming with tastes of cherries, coffee and dark chocolate. And did I mention that all of their wines are paired with amazing morsels from their kitchen that only make their wines even more special? I am told that come June of 2014 they will have their new subterrainian wine processing facility and an award winning wine tasting facility open that will be perched on the highest hill on their property. It will truly be the grand dame in North Texas wineries when the new facility is opened. Do yourself a favor and make a bee line as soon as you can to Mitas Hill. The Mitas Family will charm you, and I am quite sure you will have found a winery in North Texas that you will love.

The winery and vineyard are a beautiful surprise for the area. It's a diamond in the rough that still needs some polishing. We went for dinner on a Wednesday night which we found out was Wine Wednesday with the wine maker but we just wanted to do a tasting and order from the menu. There were only a handful of people there but all seemed to be family or friends of the staff. We hold many events in the area and wanted to check out the place for upcoming events. We felt like we were intruding on a family reunion. The wine was great but no one asked us how we liked it or could they get us more etc. We asked for a tour of the facility and the wait staff said she was busy and might not have time. The staff/owners were dressed VERY casual with tennis shoes and flip flops and t-shirts and the customer service really needs help. We walked around the property by ourselves while they all continued to talk with each other . I am hoping this improves because the potential is HUGE for this place. They would benefit from a consultant to help them improve their image.

Mitas Hill Vineyard was definitely at the top of our list for places to have our wedding.I requested information about the venue from Cricket Killingsworth (the coordinator).Right from the beginning, I noticed a delay in email response.I understand being busy, but really how hard is it to respond to a few questions. We went ahead and scheduled a tour.I tried to look beyond Crickets lack of responses to emails and un organization. To make a long story short, we ended up booking with a different venue. However, I emailed Cricket canceling our tour appointment.I mentioned in the email that my fiancé and I would like to have a romantic "getaway" weekend in October. We would like to stay at the vineyard.I asked her to send me information on the room pricing and availability.NO RESPONSE.The website does not have the pricing information for the rooms. Also, no way to book a room on the website.I am glad that we booked at a different venue.I have a type A personality.Cricket definitely does not meet my standards of being professional, energetic or helpful.

Went for a date night with my husband, first date since having a baby. There was a wedding going on so everyone was too distracted to do anything!!!! Poor service ending up leaving without doing anything because they were to distracted. Also their website is wrong they do not have scheduled tours according to them and since there was a wedding no tour. It looked beautiful and I am disappointed that they ruined date night.

So I will begin my review of this venue with the positives. The positive being it is a gorgeous venue. Unfortunately, that is where the positives start and stop. First, as soon as we paid our deposit all of sudden it became more and more difficult to get a hold of them to ask questions. Per there contract, since we were not using their preferred caterer, we needed to have them approved. When trying to schedule a time to come in for our caterer to come in to discuss logistics/ set up, they told us they were too busy, and could not schedule a time to come in for over a month. We finally managed to schedule a time to come in on a Sunday , and was informed when we got there Sue, one of the owners, was running behind . Mr. Mitas then began to show our caterers around, and answer some questions they had but not all of them. 20 minutes later, we were informed that Sue was not coming, she was busy with her grandkids. Remember, they were too busy for 1 month to see us, and we waited all this time because THEY needed to approve the caterer and wanted to walk through with them. So our caterers left with many unanswered questions. When scheduling my bridal portraits I was told they were closed on Wednesday, but I could come and use the grounds. They did tell me they would not allow me in the building to change into my gown, but I could pay $250 to rent one the rooms. Pay $250 for 1 hour to change into my dress, after I just paid them almost $9000 already? When I got there, immediately Mr. Mitas and Sara came out barking at us asking if we had permission to be on the property. After explaining that I had an email from Mary confirming that I could come on the grounds, they let us proceed. Sarah , actually apologized later for being rude and let me in to use the bathroom to change, which I was thankful for. The day of the wedding , the grooms rooms are not opened until after 1 pm, stated in the contract. When my makeup artist got there the maintenance man was confused and let her into the grooms room. We immediately put her in the right area, and closed the door. Mr. Mitas then came in yelling and berating us that we had no reason to be in the room and to stay out. I tried to explain what happened but he continued to yell at us. The rest of the wedding went well, and honestly did not think twice about all that happened until I got back from my honeymoon. I had left my phone charger behind, and my wedding planner asked for them to mail it back, which they did. When I opened the package, there was also a piece of paper in there. My older sister who had witnessed some the Mitas family behavior had written a review on the knot. Sue Mitas printed it off, and underlined a few things and then at bottom had put a snarky comment of " really???" and mailed it to me. I did not write that review, and did not appreciate this passive aggressive behavior. I called Sue to thank her for mailing my charger back, but called her out on her unprofessional behavior of sending me the review with the comment she wrote. She owned up that she did send it, but offered no apology for it or for her and her husbands behavior . You are in the customer service business. You do not get to treat people rudely, or yell at them! Its not ok. The amount of money we spent, was definitely not worth the level of frustration and frankly the level of rude unprofessional behavior we endured. Even with an amazing wedding planner like I had, I would not recommend this venue.

On Sept 19th, 10 of us made a reservation for dinner. We arrived on time, but due to a wedding going on had to park down the hill next to the dumpster and go in the back way. The atmosphere was excellent, the wine pretty average but the overall dining experience was a total bust. It took over two hours for entrees to be served, with one persons entrée totally forgotten. The other entrees were very cold (steak, sea bass, etc.). One person sent his back to be warmed up and it took another 20 minutes to return. When discussing our experience with the owner we were told this is not a fast food restaurant and we should relax and enjoy the evening. I agree, but at least with fast food you get a hot meals. It is difficult to relax and enjoy with the substandard meals being served. The owner then told us since he cannot satisfy us to not return. This group of 10 eats regularly at some of the top spots in Dallas and the surrounding area. We have never experienced this type of treatment. The owner finally took up the bills and ate the cost of the meals. I am sure he had a better meal then we did.

The location is great; made for great expectations.

Unfortunately, the dining experience was awful. Prices were overpriced for the quality of food, but the worst part was the overall service. It took over two hours for food to arrive; when it arrived, it was all luke warm - except for the one person in our party who didn't get served for about 20 minutes after the others; hers did arrive hot.

The owner came by and when we complained was insistent that it was the way it was supposed to be and if we didn't like it, we didn't need to come back. Later on, he did collect our checks to comp our meals - but never a hint of an apology. Personally, I would have preferred an apology as it would have shown a sense of responsibility.

We won't go back; not worth a second chance.

Scenery may be good, but can't rate the wine or food - because they sat us at a table and then NEVER came back for 40 minutes, so we left. Food is expensive - which we were willing to pay - we were right next to the pizza oven and it looked appealing. We even talked to the owner or manager - small talk about how long they had been there, etc. Tables around us were being served - you would think one of the wait staff would have noticed us and asked about it to the management? Don't go - there's plenty of beautiful vineyards in the area - and they actually serve you!!
