I hate for the secret to get out, but i bet it's too late for that anyway. This bike trail is one of my all-time favorites. They have really done alot of work and maintenance on this trail the last couple of years, and it is in phenomenal shape. When we were there a few weeks ago, it looked like they were putting in a newer bigger pump track too. Love Erwin Park!

Fun spot to ride bikes or even camp close to home. Been here many times bike riding and also taking youth on campouts. Bathrooms could use some work and running water could be better or easier to get. Overall a fun place

This place is awesome. If you don't mind the heat in the summer, this is a great place to escape to. While you are here you feel miles and miles away from the city; however, you are just a hop skip and a jump from McKinney TX. They have sweet single track trails that go for miles and miles. Excellent for mountain biking and hiking. The cool (literally) thing is, the trail goes in and out of the trees the whole time. That way you aren't in the hot sun the whole time. While we were there we saw several cardinal birds. Very quiet, and so relaxing. I even saw camping sites. At one point they had some older looking swing sets. They also had some little buildings that housed some rest rooms. I highly recommend this place.

Spent 7 days in McKinney and rode the trails 5 days - very well maintained. Offers challenges to all riding levels. Check out Cadence Cycle in McKinney if you need anything they were a great help to me!!

Erwin's off-road mountain bike trail features over 8 miles of singletrack. The variety of terrain from open wildflower plains to wooded sections with fun dips and drops provides something for all skill levels. The trail is closed when muddy to prevent damage. Check out DORBA.org for more info.

Great trails for any level of biking. Sometimes I use the trails to run as well. Nice to be in the trees when the weather is nice.

My husband and I have taken our dogs here and really enjoyed the openness and areas where you can walk or run or bicycle. We enjoy the flowers and the beauty that you find in the paths where you can find different varieties of trees.

It's amazing to me how few people ever visit this park! The grounds are well maintained and it's nestled back off the main road by a barrier of trees. Lovely covered pavilion for a family picnic and several different areas of playground equipment for the kiddos.

Have seen the sign for YEARS on Lake Forest Drive and meant to follow it and visit. So we finally followed the ONE directional sign. We never saw a sign pointing which other road to take so we had an unexpected country drive, new development drive, nearby construction drive and finally found the UNMARKED access road, and VOILA! There was a gate with park sign. McKinney could provide one more directional sign to signify the access road. We were there to hike, and hike we did! It's a beautiful park and I imagine one day the play equipment might be upgraded. The bike trail features seem thoughtfully maintained. Hiking? Not so much. No trail map at the trailhead bulletin board. No trail directional signs. We knew to go counter clockwise in case there were cyclists. It was a weekday, so we were not finding it crowded. We enjoyed the serenity, the many switchbacks, the woods and even the sunny meadow sections. There are annoying buzzy insects that circle you as you hike the trail. I swung a stick around and that would make them leave off chasing me. I suppose the restrooms are a little more private than using the bushes...but there are no doors on the stalls, no ceiling really, and there are holes in the block wall. Perhaps the city intends to upgrade these? I'm thankful this park is here and there are many indications it is cared for, and believe someone in the city of McKinney has further stewardship goals, when possible.

This is an awesome trail to go run on! I went on a Saturday and it was very crowded, so be careful and watch your surroundings.

Is the hiking trail the same as the bike trail?
I went here once an there are signs for hiking and biking, but it wasn't clear exactly where to go.
There seemed to be a single trail for bikes that didn't look wide enough for hikers also.
Any clarification would help. Thanks

Exactly how many miles is it if you run the entire trail from the first parking lot at the trail head? I keep seeing different lengths.

Is the trail open this time of year? DORBA website shows that the park is closed. TIA
