About
Landon Winery is a Texas winery that has two locations where wines can be sampled; historic downtown McKinney, Texas and historic downtown Greenville, Texas both of which are close to Dallas and Fort Worth. Our goal is to run a winery known for crafting award-winning Texas wines. Watch us make our wines at either location. We have produced many internationally recognized award winning wines. We source our Texas grapes from vineyards in the Texas high plains south of Lubbock and even some grapes from outside of Texas.Enjoy wine tastings at the bar, wine by the glass, wine by the bottle or take a bottle home with you. McKinney offers a great patio, live music on Friday and Saturday nights, cheeseboards, and an indoor tuscan atmosphere. Stop by for an afternoon break or enjoy a cool evening on the patio under the stars.

Great venue for a party!
We have hosted two parties at the McKinney location, and love it! Rhonda Ollivant and her staff took excellent care of us, anticipating our needs. Communication was excellent. We highly recommend Landon Winery for parties, to stop by for a drink as well as the wine club membership. The location in downtown McKinney is perfect.

They provide a terrific selection of wines. A friend in the area purchases wonderful reserve wines that are incredibly smooth and memory making wine experiences. This is a place to visit.

Sadly, this winery used to be a great compliment to the lovely downtown McKinney square. However, in the last year or two the quality of wine and service have suffered. It used to be a great spot to stop and relax with great, friendly service and amazing wine club events. But the wine which used to be exceptional has become average (at the exceptional price) and the service has certainly declined. The last wine club event I attended with friends included service that was almost resentful we were there and fairly hostile with the tasting requests. One of our invited guests had purchased a wine tasting and particularly enjoyed one variety. When they asked for a second taste of the same variety they were informed that was not allowed. Of course, all of this great service was after waiting 20 plus minutes to be acknowledged by staff. It's really sad to see the decline in quality and service from a place that was once a place we frequented regularly.

I'm honestly surprised at the amount of good reviews for this place. I have gone here a few times and had terrible experiences. I went this past weekend for an enjoyable night out with my wife and mother in law. She was asking the waitress about some of the wines as she had never been there before and wanted to know about them before trying. The waitress was extremely disengaged and couldn't say anything other than, "I don't really know, I don't like rose' or if you want, you can try a little." We were trying to make light conversation with her while trying to order and she just looked like she would rather be anywhere else. Honestly, it made us all feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. This is the exact experience I had the previous time I went here. Downtown McKinney is such an adorable place and the winery has such a great patio, etc. I would love to be able to enjoy a nice evening with a glass of wine and sit on the patio. However, the couple of times I've gone here, i just want to get as far as I can from this place, because they clearly don't know the meaning of good customer experience or sharing helpful and necessary information about their wine which would add to the experience as well.

We came in and ordered 2 tastings. We were served by three different people over the course of a 30 minute visit and each of them could not have been more inconvenienced by our presence. We tried 2 reds and 3 whites and they were awful. On the way out, we saw a cheese tray being delivered to a table and it looked like something out of the refrigerator section at Walmart. 2 stars might be generous for this place. Our experience was terrible.

We were looking forward to visiting Landon winery as it was recommended by a friend. The area is lovely, on the square in McKinney. We wished to do wine tasting and here is where it got weird. We did indeed try several wines but our glass was not replaced or rinsed for each tasting so different types of wine were put upon each other. We purchased a case of Landon Yellow Rose and were charged for the wine tasting as well. Really? We buy a case of your wine and you feel the need to charge for an inadequate at best, tasting? Yes, we had to stand during the tasting. Normally we have a great time in Texas and find the people fun and interesting. Not this time. The gal who did our tasting acted like she couldn't wait until we were gone. We will not be back. Questionable if we will buy the wine again.

No doubt, location is a prime site in downtown historic McKinney. We are greatly disappointed with the front patio seating area (seen in many pictures). No ceiling fans or some type of air conditioning is in place affording visitors relief from high heat index this time of year. Within 10 minutes our group is sweating. Inside, are limited barstool tables, that seat 4. As a result our group of 6 went to the empty bar counter and continued wine tasting standing; no barstools are in place at the bar. After awhile, my spouse brings an unoccupied barstool to the bar so I can sit. Shortly after, the bar attendant ask if a barstool was obtained and if I'm using it. (It's apparent I am.) We had no idea she was using her questions and our polite answers of "Yes", as a platform to deliver to us an open floor offensive stern reprimand that, I'm not to sit but stand at the bar; per, Landon's policy. Feeling unwelcomed and insulted by her and worse since we were in the middle of our tasting.....we located seating for two across the room to finish quickly. If on a Friday or Saturday night you want a patio were you can sweat to the point your clothes cling and be insulted for using a barstool, Landon's, the place to go!

I do not recommend this place. You never get waited on by the staff. The inside tables and bar are very dirty and sticky. They do not allow dogs on the patio (just a warning) since they do not mention this and many of the other cafes and bars allow dogs on the outside patios next door. The wines are similar to what you would find at a do it yourself at home kit brewed by a newbie. If your not a regular to the place they treat you worse than dirt.

I was just at this fun plce last night. The wine is GREAT! They have music that is outside on a enclosed patio, which was really good. A fun spot to enjoy a good glass of wine and listen to some good music.

The location and good wine were a plus, but disinterested and preoccupied bartenders left a bad impression. When a customer enters an empty bar and the staff scatters with nary a glance or a greeting and no waitstaff appears, it doesn’t bode well. That’s a failure in Hospitality 101. .
