By far one of the closest beaches w easy access from Houston. If you have 4 Wheel drive you can drive almost 20 miles east for some great trout surf fishing and shell collection

Texas has a lengthy coastline. Most travelers are aware of Galveston and its beaches, but this is only a small portion of the water and sand that await when you visit the Texas coast. If you want to get to a somewhat more secluded beach...More

We love this beach and it is very family friendly. I will say that I highly recommend a vehicle with 4 wheel drive or you may be getting pulled out of the deep sand. Cars are welcome and it’s not super crowded except for holidays....More

Matagorda is great beach with lots of room to beachcomb. You can drive your car right up to your spot on the beach and it is dog friendly.

It looks like you can for up to 72 hours. It won’t let me tag the Matagorda Beach Rules & Regulations site, but just google Matagorda Beach. There’s a tab for beach rules on the left hand side! Hope this helps!
