The Ellen Trout Zoo is an amazing attraction for a town the size of Lufkin. It is a great zoo that has been updated in the past decade to be a much more modern park. It is a fun way to spend the afternoon. My nieces love to ride the train and look for peacock feathers as we wander through... More

I took my daughter to this small quaint Zoo! It is an excellent small zoo experience! My daughter had a blast. We rode the train, be sure and bring cash the train is run by the Lion's club and they only accept cash, or personal check if anyone uses those any longer. There are also two very nice playgrounds.

A home town zoo. kids attention span is very short anyways, so this is perfect. a very clean atmosphere. lots of different animals, birds, reptiles. has a beautiful lake with picknik areas." GOT TO RIDE THE TRAIN" ; Z O & O RAILROAD , fun for the kids. WOW ,best HIPPO display I have seen. you will love it.

Great environment for the kids. Could be a little bigger, but still kids loved it. The train ride was probably the best part.

They have a train you can ride with your child its a must!! The zoo is small but really nice. If you want to save some money get the family pass and it will get you into the Houston Zoo and Dallas Zoo free.

This is a small zoo. They evidently take care of the animals carefully and thoughtfully. The hippopotamus area was superb.

Our trip to this zoo was enjoyable. The zoo is clean and well-maintained. It's very small and didn't take long to get through, but the kids were all happy and enjoyed themselves. The animals were all beautiful, and all of the free-roaming peacocks were pretty cool. The employees at the ticket window, snack bar, and train were all very nice!... More

I visited the zoo with my daughter, son-in-law, and 5 of my youngest grandchildren. This was our first time there. Because of it being winter, some of the animals were in hibernation, but the ones we saw appeared very well cared for. They have lots of birds that are people friendly and very entertaining. They also have free roaming peacocks.... More

The zoo is not too big, but still has a nice variety of animals from around the globe. It was cool to get up close to the Nile Hippos. A few animals were not visible, and a few others were sleeping. But the majority were active and cool to see. No paper map, but it is easy to walk around.... More

This is always a good day trip. Not too big or too small to get around. Lots of shade too. There are areas that are under construction and no maps because they are going to print new ones due to the new construction but you can find your way around without too much trouble. Good restrooms and snack shops along... More
