My husband and I are taking a road trip around America as honeymoon.
While we were driving from Santa Fe to Lubbock, we saw this drive-in theatre on our way and decided to enjoy a movie there.
It’s my first time to America. A drive-in theatre is certainly one of the most Americana things that I have in mind, all of which stemmed from Grease the movie.
We watched Ant-man 2. The stereo was good with good synchrony with the images. We had some chicken wings, fries and a lemonade as movie snacks. The quality of food, especially the fries and lemonade is unexpectedly good! The fries are crispy and well-seasoned, and the icy lemonade is very refreshing!
This is such a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

This was just like it is in the movies! Really worth experiencing and the cafe was good to get drinks/food from (although you can take your own). The milk shakes were delicious and highly recommended and juke box is worth it - a dollar for 4 songs. You can stay for 2 films in the same price - which makes it exceptional value. Not the most obvious but keep driving out of the main town and you'll find it, we went quite early so we could go to the cafe too, but there was plenty of spaces so I'm sure if you arrive closer to start time you'll find it just by the queue of traffic and the neon sign.

My husband and I went to the drive in in the middle of August. We had so much fun here! Get there early to get a good parking spot and be ready to stay up late. We got to the drive in about 30 minutes before the first movie started. Since we got there so early we went into the 50s diner. The food was great and priced very well. After that we went and watched the first movie, then went to get snacks during the intermission and then watched the second movie. You will be up late, but this is way worth it! It is a great price and much more comfortable than going to a movie theatre. Make sure you go on a cool night though, it gets a bit uncomfortable when it is hot out.

Stars & Stripes Drive In is a great place to spend an evening. Enjoy a double feature from the comfort of your car or bring the lawnchairs if the weather is nice (and an added benefit is it is also a great place to see an occasional falling star). The drive-in theater has 3 screens and each shows a double-feature. Just tune in the radio station provided for your movie and enjoy! Movie prices are very reasonable, just $6 per person over age 5. It's a very family friendly environment. A nice playground for the kids, occasional special events like live music are provided right outside of the 50's Cafe. They have a nice little patio area so you can sit and enjoy the music or enjoy your dinner, or watch your kids on the playground. The cafe provides a pretty good menu that includes dinner items, drinks and snacks at reasonable prices. They have a nice friendly staff and if your battery dies during or after the movie, they'll even come out to your car and give you a boost. A Great place to visit.

Traditional drive in with great modern updates. You can stream the audio through your car. The playground for kids is very nice and their concession stand is outstanding. Great food!

Great Drive-In fun. It is easy to hear and see but the things that make it are found in the snack bar. Chihuahua's are amazing! Get there early so you can have the full experience. We bring our lawn chairs and sit out under the stars.

We can actually go and see movies that have have just come out for less than the traditional theaters! They charge $6 per person and show 2 "just released" movies together. The best part about it, is going with friends and family!!! You can sit together and enjoy the shows...and if one of the kids says something, it's not a big deal! We love the freedom we have by going to the Stars and Stripes and love that they are a part of the Lubbock movie scene! Great Family entertainment, great prices, great people that work there...Top Quality!!!

Should tickets be purchased ahead of time? Or does it get really full?
Written August 17, 2019
You may purchase tickets at the box office. Advance tickets are encouraged for the big movie releases.
It is important to arrive about an hour before showtime to choose your parking spot and enjoy the full drive-in experience...including getting Rockin' Eats & Tasty Treats from our 50's Cafe. :)

I believe that dogs are allowed inside a car or on a leash. Dogs are not allowed at the 50's Café patio and playground area. I know I read this someplace on the website, but I can't seem to find it now to give you the reference.
