This was a great church. Sadly, I couldn't go inside the church due to renovations. Anyway, I took a lot of selfies! The area was very interesting. Please walk around the Laredo downtown!

Unfortunately, the Cathedral is closed due to restorations. I suppose it's good that the building is getting a makeover. However, not a good time for tourists to come to enjoy the building.

I liked the San Agustin Catholic Cathedral. It is really high!

They have one steeple and a cross at the top.

There is another cross above where people enter in the church.

There are trees.

This church is really old: 1755

It is very attractive!

If you're into history and admire beautiful artistic ornate decorative murals and objects, then you will enjoy visiting the San Agustin Cathedral. However, word of caution the cathedral is currently undergoing extensive renovations and the interior is currently off limits. You can still admire the architectural beauty of the exterior but the interior is not completed. It is expected to be complete by October, 2020.

Usually attend another church while in Laredo and decided to go to Cathedral this time. Needless to say, it was well worth it. Being new to area we had trouble finding parking around the church until we found out there is a public parking area close by which charges fees during the wk but free on wkends.

Charming, lovely, historical, well located in downtown, just a short walking distance between 2 countries, it is what gives the uniqueness to this Cathedral

It was great to get to return to this beautiful place of historic wealth and ominous statue! I first visited the church about 20 years ago on a business trip to Laredo.. I felt a calmness come over me as I walked through rose big wooden doors today! Several others walked up as we were coming out of the cathedral. It is currently a place of worship and has a dress code posted on the front.
There is so much history here and I googled the church as we were leaving and read much more about it in detail! Very interesting history dating back to 1775!

We went to a wedding for a coworker of my husband's. I'd heard of the hefty price tag and wanted to see the church. Every penny they spent was well worth it. The ceremony was incredibly intimate and beautiful despite the large size of the cathedral. The building itself is the perfect backdrop; incredibly ornate architecture.

Located in the heart of downtown Laredo this Catholic cathedral is very beautiful and historic in nature. It dates back to the 1700's and is still in use today for daily masses. It is located next to the Republic of the Rio Grande museum which is another historic building dating back to the same time period. If history is your interest you won't be disappointed by visiting here.
