It was kinda crazy how it made me feel walking along the paths with all the scriptures, the beautiful statues, flowers, plants prayer stones and THE CROSS! I actually teared up reading some of the prayer stones/rocks. When you see the life size statues you can’t help but feel something.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 6, 2023
- Miss EleniousMcKinney, Texas90 contributionsBreathtaking and High in the CloudsThe drive up and down this mountain is so steep and yet so thrilling at the same time. I did a solo trip here so that I could see the giant cross on top of the hill but it wasn't until I drove up and stood in the garden before I realized the magnitude of what I saw in front of me. Even if you are not a religious or spiritual person, the size and grandiosity of the cross, as well as the views from the top is worth making this trip. The day was windy, there was a storm approaching, and the deep blue hues enveloped the statues that were on display---it gave it an almost eerie and supernatural tone as I stood there feeling windswept, but also feeling at peace with the world and myself. I would give anything to be back on that hilltop once again. There is handicap, as well a small lot available for parking.Visited April 2023Traveled soloWritten March 29, 2024
- Ava BHouston, Texas14 contributionsGo Here!I feel it is akin to The Garden of Gethsemane in Texas. A group of 8 ladies went from our prayer ministry. God healed hearts, burdens were laid down, peace was attained as we prayed for our families, wrote our prayers on the supplied rocks, and we experienced a miracle we weren't even asking for. Go here, but give yourself time to sit and pray.Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 8, 2024
- John HOrange, Texas2 contributionsWell Worth the Time. The message it gives is clear and precise. DO NOT MISS IT.I saw this from the highway when arriving in Kerrville and told myself that I have to go there before leaving. I also told my Slingshot friends that I would like to visit it before leaving Sunday. Glad I did. A friend of mine I know was touched and a another said he will bring his wife next time. During the walk through if you read the scripture in the ground you will get a message that will stomp your toes. When looking at the sculpture 's and reading the messages on the plac's the experience was more than I can explain in words. Wish I had more time and I will be returning to the cross again.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 13, 2024

A " do not miss" in Kerrville, Texas! Over-looking Kerrville and right on I-10 is a one of kind sculpture garden that is amazing in beaty and scope. The 77 ft. 7 " Open Cross is the centerpiece with many great sculptures everywhere you look. Take a break from driving on I-10 and spend some time with God. You will be very glad you did!

If you are a believer, you will want to visit and feel the power of this location. The sculptures are beautiful, the bible verses reminders of Gods grace and mercy and the cross was awesome to stand under and reflect on the meaning of that empty cross. It is truly a great place to spend a few minutes in prayer and introspection. Powerful and beautiful place to visit

Stopped here while visiting the area and what a special place this is. The sculptures are amazing and prayer gardens left me speechless. The place is free and grounds are kept immaculate. The sculptor was there the day we visited, what a wonderful and spirit filled man, don’t miss the special place.

What a beautiful well kept area.
You were up on a hill looking down on the town.
The statutes were magnificent. It's the kind of place you just go to think, pray...it is very quiet and serene.
There was a crew out there weeding, cleaning up and just making sure everything was up to standards. I believe they were all volunteers.

There was much to see, and sculptures spread over a large area. Very hot, but there was a constant breeze. Floppy hats helped as well. The road going up and down was pretty steep. Very spiritual place with a great view from the top of a mountain. No charge, but donations accepted.

This was an amazing area to visit as it is laid out so well with beautiful sculptures throughout the grounds. One sculpture reflects Christ's return on a white horse; another shows Him (His face especially moved me!) as He holds a tiny baby while comforting a woman who had lost that little one in some way; another shows Him holding a fishing net telling His followers to become fishers of men, and one where He is washing Peter's feet. There are stones for people to write their prayer requests on, and as we walked by, there were several that caught my eye, and I stopped and prayed for the writer. One asked for prayer that the writer wouldn't end their life. That one hit me hard, and I prayed for that one to find hope in Jesus Christ, the only One who can give us ANY kind of hope in this tough world today!

This outdoor prayer garden and sculpture is well worth visiting. It is easy to get to. Plan to spend an hour or more exploring. There are several points of interest through the garden, including a prayer garden full of rocks with prayers written on them. This is extremely well done.

Can you see everything from a car or do you have to walk?
Written March 21, 2022
There is a parking lot very close to the top and then ramps (if they are needed) to get to the very top. You definitely need to get out of your car to get the full experience.

Yes. There are many affordable hotels in the area near the cross, on the main highway. We stayed at La Quinta, and it was very clean and affordable.
Written July 23, 2019
what hotels are near this awesome place and are they affordable?
Written July 23, 2019
Most everything in Kerrville is close. :-)
Within a mile is Holiday Inn Express, Super 8, Motel 6, LaQuinta, Hampton Inn, etc, etc.
YO Inn is a nice local option. The lobby is a mini- museum. There are a lot of B&B in the area too.

The Sculpture Garden in the the NW corner of the intersection of I-10 and Hwy 16. It can be a little tricky to get there...but follow the signs. It is a west turn different than the access rode that takes you in front of the Cecil Atikssion car dealership and to the entrance of the Garden.

Hello, I was wondering of the sun ever shines through the cross? If so what time does that usually happen? are you allowed to take pictures there with a DSLR camera? is it open all of the time? can I bring a flash if I need one? can I bring photography equipment on the property? when does it open? what time are the church services? i don't want to interrupt any services.
Written September 1, 2016
Sure you can bring photography equipment. Yes the Suns shines through it. It's free of charge and opened till dark. Services are held at Easter. There maybe more information on the web. There are parking areas for handicapped. Other beautiful sculptures on walk to cross. You can stand under cross. Beautiful view of surrounding area.
