This was a great introduction to sailing. The instructors were friendly and helpful. The classroom portion was engaging and informational. It prepared us for the portion of the course on the water during which we all had ample opportunity to practice basic skills and enjoy sailing.

Our instructor, Craig, gave us an exiting and educational adventure in the Basic 101 course. He is an excellent sailor and a exceptionally good teacher.

Captain Craig was an excellent instructor. He was engaging, encouraging, energetic and covered all the materials several times and in several ways to help everybody understand. Captain Jerry was personable, patient and persistent to work with us on board to learn and master skills and experience to help us understand new concepts. Great class and great crew.

After having grown up sailing small boats as a kid in New England (30 years ago), I decided to take ASA 101-Basic Keelboat. Man, am I glad I did! I truly did not realize how much I didn't know about basic sailing- it was a case of the more you learn, the more you realize how little you actually knew. Our group's instructor was Captain Craig, and he was an absolutely outstanding teacher and mentor. With a background as an engineer, he could answer all the technical questions that more science-minded individuals might have, while also being able to explain more challenging topics in easily understandable terms for everybody else. Craig even had some cool mockups with a fan and a model boat to visually explain things like wind angle, sail trim, heeling, etc.- majorly helpful! Also, the price at South Coast was very reasonable. Highly recommend South Coast Sailing and especially Cap'n Craig!

Just completed my ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Certification at South Coast Sailing Adventures. I can't say enough how impressed I am with the entire organization. Capt. Lucy and Capt. Tom were so easy to work with and made the entire experience enjoyable.
