Great park. Was a little scary when the very drug intoxicated addict started talking to my kids though.

Love MJPP lake, playground, walking trails, picnic areas. I've been here many, many times, with kids and by myself. Peaceful and shaded walking trail.

Went here with our twin grandsons. They loved the place. A lot to do. They ran around and had a great time on everything. One of the twins favorite places!

Wonderful play area for all ages. No mulch or rocks in the playground. Instead it has that hard spongy turf and artificial grass in some areas. Very clean and new. We brought peas and corn for the ducks/turkey vulture looking things to feed. Bread is bad for the wildlife so bring your canned veggies! There were people having picnics and fishing. Parking was a little tight but we were able to catch a person leaving and grab a spot. Wonderful experience and we will be back.

Excellent indoor pool - check monthly pool schedule for classes and times. Changing room is clean with lockers and showers. Indoor exercise room. Putt putt facility undergoing renovation. Children’s outdoor play area. Fishing pond. Walking trail around the pond. Plenty of picnic tables.

Pretty nice place. Parking an issue, too few handicap spaces.I know it is outdoors and nature is included, but saw child slip in duck poop and fall into pond. Just be careful.

I love this park, they have a really nice walking/running trail around the lake. Additionaly, they updated the kids playground and my kids love it. It plenty for to do for my 3 yr old and 10 yr old. They have grills, picnic tables, and even have miniature golf.

Beautiful Park in Old Katy, TX with lots of amenities
Small pond with ducks and various birds.
Walk, Run or Jog you have great play area for all and also for Dog owners, there is a separate space for them to run around
This park also has a Gym and Swimming Pool for people who live in Harris County and some parts of Fort Bend County for their use. Gym and Swimming pool closes down around 7:00 pm.
It is a beautiful park worth visiting.
Parking has enough space for several cars.
Overall level A- level park.

Are there bike trails at this park?
I am looking for a course to train on with a recumbent bike.

No, not really. George Bush Park would be my suggestion.
Hi, i am a resident in harris county and heard that the amenities come free as long as you are a resident of the county and can provide proof. Is this true?

Well I have to say I'm very disappointed in Mary Jo Katy Peckham Park pool, or better yet the lifeguards! Yesterday I was swimming my usual laps a little bit slowly and I almost get plowed into by the lifeguard and the kid he was racing!!
I swim in the deep part of the pool and I saw them line up to dive in but I never thought they would try to run over me!!!
I glared at the lifeguards in the water and on the deck, not that did any good!!!
The cherry on the cake was when all of them (10) people started swimming right at me, I jumped out of the pool and very angrily left. And do you know what the lifeguard that almost ran me over said....you have a nice day and then chuckled!!! What can I do about this??

I suggest that you contact MJP Park and report the incident: (281) 496-2177
Is the fishing 5 per person or group? Also is catch and release counted twords the 5 limit?

I agree. Get a license. the 5 only counts towards what you are going to take home. Catch and release as much as you want.

Hi there, do you need a fishing license to fish in the lake at the park?

Fishing License Requirements
Any person who takes or attempts to take fish, mussels, clams, crayfish or other aquatic life in the public waters of Texas must have a current Texas fishing license with the appropriate endorsement. A saltwater endorsement is required to fish in coastal waters; a freshwater endorsement is required for inland waters. See license fees and packages.
Recreational anglers must have a Texas fishing license and saltwater endorsement to bring any fish taken in federal waters ashore in Texas (see Fishing in Federal Waters).
Exceptions
Fishing licenses are not required for:
•Children under 17 years of age
•Texas residents born before January 1, 1931
•Anyone fishing within a Texas State Park
•Mentally disabled persons who are engaged in recreational fishing under supervision as part of medically approved therapy (for more details, see Fishing Licenses).
•Mentally disabled persons fishing under the direct supervision of a licensed angler who is a family member or has permission from the family to take the mentally disabled person fishing.
No one needs a license or stamp endorsement on Free Fishing Day, held each year on the first Saturday in June. In 2016, Free Fishing Day is June 4.
