Junction is a nice little town and the Edwards Plateau is beautiful country. The bird blinds in this State Park are really nice. It's great that they have them. Several of the trails were great for birding too. We were there during spring break and the crowd was really not bad at all.

Moderate ease is to be found on most of the trails. Very clean park with a nice collection of various wildlife and bird viewing areas. Bring a bike to get around as it's a lot bigger than you think.

We went camping, RV style, for the President's Day weekend 2017. The weather was perfect with not a cloud in the sky Friday and Saturday evenings. The park office was closed when we got there after 5:30pm on Friday so went into the park where we were met by the 'Living on Site' ranger. She advised us of the available... More

We had such a great time last year that I wanted to come back this year. The park has 4 easily reached bird blinds with feeders and water. We say Cardinals, Titmice, Goldfinches, and a variety of sparrows. I would like to come in April so that I can see the Buntings.

Don't know if it's the great people, the great location, the great campground, the surprisingly abundant wildlife, the interesting history, or all the hard work that pulls it all together but this sweet little park was a real nice surprise. Located on the south bank of the South Llano River, this small, quiet, well-tended spot was a perfect place for... More

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon. The Ranger’s office and its employees were busy checking in visitors including a Boy Scout troop. We requested a site that was away from the hustle and bustle. Luckily for us, the Ranger allowed us to drive into the campsite loop and pick a site we desired. It took several laps around the campsite,... More

Didn't stay long, this was just meant to be a place to sleep on our trip. The road in to the campground was exciting at night - lots of wildlife out doing their thing. Deer, jackrabbits, coyote, etc were scurrying around. We arrived after hours and pulled in, tried to quietly pitch tent and get to sleep. I didn't really... More

I had some down time before my next appointment and waited in the park. It is easy to get to from the "down town" shopping. I was there on business but did notice kayak rentals near by

Came to Junction primarily to hike in this park. It was in the autumn, and temperatures were moderate. On the river side, it's very flat and you are under a canopy of pecan trees. On the dry side there are uphills and the kind of terrain one comes to expect from the Hill Country. Over 20 miles of trails. The... More
