The whole experience was terrible. The route goes through a bayou which could be pretty in a different season but it's way too short. It's 15 minutes long, at best, and then turns around and goes back through the exact same area. There were holiday...More

Historic railroad!??? BS!!! Think, the Six Flags train. NOT a real train!! This was a bankrupt amusement park ride, that got brought to TX. by a town, for a good cause. It failed. A private Co. bought it in & has run it into the...More

This used to be a great thing; however, now it is apparent the owners are just there for the money and not making any efforts to keep the maintenance up. Yes, there may have been a tornado in April, but this is late November. If...More

The young lady who was supposed to be narrating our train ride, mumbled a script. We could not understand anything she was saying. The train ride advertises a gator pit. After we were already on the train we were told we wouldn't be stopping because...More

This is one of the better trains rides I have been on. I love the history they tell you about Jefferson during the ride and there is also entertainment which is really neat depending on when you ride the train. The children absolutely love it....More

We enjoyed the train ride and the beautiful scenery. The screeching of the train only made it a realistic ride for us. It was hard to hear the narrator but I think it was probably their sound equipment. We enjoyed the ride nonetheless.

The train ride was advertised as a ride through the Piney Woods. More lush pine trees can be seen on the interstate. The ride was loud and the tracks screeched as we moved along. The narrator was a young lady who read from a script...More

We drove to Jefferson TX about a 4 hour drive to attend the annual Civil War reenactment of the Battle of Jefferson that began downtown to include the train attack. Later on it took us a few miles down the road where the battle reenactment...More

The steam engine was the most worthwhile part of the ride. We found the narration completely unnecessary, as the gentleman spoke so fast he was unintelligible. Stopping twice, for 10 minutes of cannon-fire without understanding the story made this a very LONG 35 minutes.

A great idea and layout for a train ride. Lots of history in this area. The owner, Don, is very personable and knowledgeable.

They have their October schedule listed on their website but not November yet. Look up Historic Jefferson Railway to check the schedule.
