Beautiful fields full of wildflowers. I went on a Friday and there were only a few other cars there, but I would imagine it gets busy on the weekends. One of the best places to see wildflowers near Houston.

Take your camera when you go to Independence. The wildflowers and magnificent trees are beautiful. They also have a number of log cabins and historical buildings. Go to Independence when the Spring flowers are in bloom.

The birthplace of what now is the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor which is located in Belton, Texas now. It is a nice little park with the column remains of the original building of the women's college which stood there.

Windmill Hill offers a nice breeze on a warm day. Amazing to see a place where Baylor University got it's start over 150 years ago. Peaceful, serene. Great spot for a picnic.

While driving between College Station and Brenham there's a somewhat inconspicuous sign referencing the original spot of Baylor University. I'd driven by there a couple of times before finally stopping. I've lived in College Station for many years and never knew that our state's oldest...More
