This statue sits along I-45. It is quite impressive and at night, it is very well lit and you can't miss it. I was surprised at its dimensions.

If you're in the area, it's worth a side trip to go see the statue. It's very impressive. There's a short wooded path to the statue with picnic tables if you wanted to have a picnic lunch. There's also a visitor's center there, but it was closed due to a recent storm and power outage.

Unfortunately 99.999% of visitors only see this statue from the highway. DO NOT PARK ON THE INTERSTATE. Take the next exit and park safely in the parking lot. Not only is it dangerous to park on the interstate, but you can be ticketed. Museum is interesting and the grounds around the statue are always nicely manicured. It's a great break... More

Its a huge monument right off the freeway. Its not easy to get to and you have to go stand out by the freeway to get a good picture, but its really an amazing place.

It was really cool to see this impressive statue up close. A neat photo opp in addition to the clean and spacious restroom facilities, gift shop and information center. There we... More

... and really cool. You can see this from I45 but it is worth the 15 minute detour. Recommend following thus with the Sam Houston Museum.

You need to stand by it to appreciate its true size, but a drive past it on the interstate would be enough.

This statue is best observed from the highway where you are not allowed to stop. The area around the statue is so very close that the statue cannot be truly seen but there is information there to read. The information in the visitor center is very good and talks about the other attractions in Huntsville as well, like the prison... More
