We have been passing this statue of Houston for 20 years. We finally decided to stop and glad we did. This is a free stop with nice restrooms and a teaching moment for the kids. BTW it's a pretty big statue and makes for a great picture.

He can be observed from the road but it is more fun to go to the visitors center and walk the path to see him. We were greater by a very friendly staff member who came out on the porch to give information about the grounds. They also have a nice gift shop and bathrooms at the site. I wouldn't... More

This was a great thing to go and visit once. We were camping nearby at the Huntsville State Park. So it was very close and fun to go do on a day that was going a little slow. My children enjoyed picking the nose of Sam Houston! What could be more fun than that??? And its free!

Visiting the statue is free, and there is a small information room, and gift shop. Very friendly staff will greet you. The statue itself is 77' high, and is quite impressive up close.

Very interesting. Job well done. The statue is beautiful. It is fun to go around and look at the bricks to see if you know anyone....like Dan Rather for one. The gift shop is worth a visit too. Claudette

Right off 45 Sam Houston stands above the highest trees overlooking the interstate. Impressive statue. If you are driving North you cannot miss it.

Not much to say but wow that's a giant statue. I don't know anything about it. But it's a fun place to take pictures. It's worth the stop.

Passed the place a number of times but actually visited today. Very nice visitor center. Lovely grounds. Suitable for a nice picnic. Statue is pretty large when you get close. Historically significant guy and actually worth s stop.

I went when I was in high school and took a picture with Sam Houston's head so now its me to go back with my daughter and have her take the same picture next to his head it's definitely not a place you spend a lot of time but if you pass it on your way through it is worth... More
