Family fun, history, friendly people. Great for taking photographs. We had a 12 year old with us and she was spellbound and lived taking a picture in front of Sam

Quick stop for a little history lesson on one of the founding fathers of Texas. Beware of the gift shop. They wanted $16.95 for a small sticker. Also, the bathroom was not pleasant at all. Needs a little work. The statue was definitely worth seeing.

Neat statue to commemorate Texas' founding father, but not really worth stopping, unless you just want a quick look around and cute souvenirs. There was a short walking trail and a plaque. To me it would be much better to go see the larger museum...More

We stopped after going to Huntsville State Park. Nice and friendly people. The gift shop is a bit expensive, compared to others we have shopped. Great photo ops.

Quick stop here and wasn't disappointed. The statue is gigantic and impressive from the road and standing right underneath. The shop is very good but toilets not so.....

Sam Houston is quite a historical figure for Texas, so it makes sense to have him appear larger than life. Yes, you can see the statue from route 45, but you don't really get the perspective for the size until you walk up to it....More

This had to be the biggest statue I have ever seen. But a great monument to a great man. Must see if you go to his namesake. Great view also from the highway.

The 67 foot statue atop a ten foot base, the world's tallest statue of an American hero, is very fitting for a man who stood 6'8" in real life. The base lists Houston's achievements including being the only American to ever be governor of two...More
