You see the statue from I-45, but there's nothing to compare to seeing it up close from the park. It has a nice picnic area which is a pleasant place to stop between Houston and Dallas. Our grandkids love looking for the statue whenever we travel on 45.

This huge white stone statue catches you off guard as you are driving down the Texas I-45. We actually exited and turned around to see the statue and let our girls learn more about Texas history.

I saw this statue while driving from Houston to Dallas- it's colossal and attracts lots of people. I do think that it's odd for them to have placed it so close to the highway though! I was one of the many cars whizzing by so I couldn't get a good look at it and it's probably a bit dangerous for... More

My son is a senior this year and wants to go into Criminal Justice so we toured SHSU. After some research I was surprised to learn that for CJ it's the top school in TX and often ranked within the top 10 for the nation. We were very impressed by the CJ school and physical facilities. The campus is beautiful... More

Very huge monument of a person that is admired by Texans. Well loved and much history concerning Mr. Sam Houston.

I'd driven passed here several times and always meant to stop by, adventually did. Was only there about 15 mins but was definitely worth it. There is a reasonably sized car park and picnic tables scattered around. There is a visitor center but I went there when it was closed. The statue is huge and you don't realize how big... More

It's worth stopping to get out of the car and stretch your legs. You can see the statue from the highway but you need to see it up close to see how huge it is. There is a little path you take to get to the statue. There are also restroom facilities here.

Wonderful staff. Statute was interesting. Gift shop interesting. Bathrooms fine. Small picnic area. Not much else there.

I have always wanted to stop here and we did this trip. It is a little out of the way off of 45 but nothing horrible. It is a great little 10 minute stop to stop and stretch. Everyone was so nice. I loved the short and wooded pathway leading to the statue. What I was disappointed in was the... More

This is a very nice place to take a driving break when traveling from Houston to Dallas. We have stopped several times. The staff at the shop is very nice as well.
