This is the starting point of one of the best trails in the area. We ride our bikes often on the trail. Jesse Jones park is the starting point and we ride about 16 miles out and then back for a wonderful day of bike riding. Along the way there is a dog park and places to fish or launch a canoe. Bike riding, running, dog walking, horse back riding. There is something for everyone who wants to get outside. Most of the trail has a wonderful canopy of shade trees also.

I started walking here now that so many other places are not in use do to the virus and social distancing. It's easy to keep you distance from others here, plenty of space and a wide path.

While staying at a nearby hotel in Humble (flying out the next day), we were looking for a park nearby to do some birding and just enjoy the outdoors. We googled this Nature Reserve and as a result of enjoying the experience, we returned the following year when we were in the same situation.
This year, we enjoyed a picnic, then went for a walk on the trails and then returned to do some birding at the feeders. We toured the 18th century Akokisa Indian Village and enjoyed encountering a rabbit and a white tailed deer! We also enjoyed visiting the nature center. We were there until after closing time of the nature center, and, as one of the staff were leaving, we asked her a few questions. Instead of brushing us off, this lovely lady took the time to not only answer our questions, but also took the time to give us additional info and encouraged us to explore various areas of the park we had not been to yet. We highly encourage anyone to explore this gem so close to the airport!

Excellent walking trails. I walk there 4-5 days a week. Trails are paved and wide enough for bikers to pass. Beautiful Nature park

We enjoyed walking there. Close to our house and there are many trails to exercise. Park ran buy many dedicated nice workers. Next to river. There is a small wild life museum and snake exhibit. Where you can recognize snake when you see them in real. I learned a lot talking rangers. They also have small heritage village to show how pioneers lived.

This is a great place to take a relaxing stroll, a vigorous walk, or jog. The paved trails, makes it easy to navigate the park. The turtle pond, Nature Center, Homestead Village, and other points of interest, provide wonderful exploration and learning opportunities for nature lovers of all ages.

Attended annual Homestead Heritage Day festivities. A superb spring type day was the setting as we rode the hay ride from parking area to main Homestead area. There was a replica village of the Akokisa Indians who disappeared from Houston area by 1805 (I guess they were exterminated by white men and rival Indians). Demonstrations at homestead site included good tasting Hoe Cake, homemade butter, real jerky made right in the smoke house. I missed the civil war re-enactment but that was fine. I went back to concession area and Karl treated me to an education in rope making. He really knew his stuff. This is a very nice park and many activities occur throughout the year.

This is a nice park with restrooms, parking, and play areas that connects to a larger system of trails. Nice selection of paved and gravel/dirt trails for running, biking or walking. Plus some horse trails. Trails of various lengths and everything was nicely marked with signs. Tucked away behind a neighborhood so also fairly quiet.

We have been to a variety of events at JHJ. When parking is far away, there is a fun ride to the event. Our kids LOVE the heritage days, finding the free samples yummy & historically accurate demonstrations fascinating.
