Walked through some of these gardens on my way to a Celebration of Life in the Cherie Flores Pavilion (inside the gardens). It was quite tranquil as I walked and not many people around. The Pavilion is a lovely stand-alone building with floor to ceiling windows, allowing for simply a wonderful view of the gardens.

Beautiful gardens and spiraling garden mount that is a fun and easy climb for the entire family.
The little kids were drawn like moths to a flame to splash their hands at the source of the cascading waterfall.
We thoroughly enjoyed the garden on a nice sunny winter day.
My only complaint was during our visit the restrooms were out of order. The nearest restrooms were across the road at Miller outdoor theater or way over at the Museum of Natural Science. Not very nice.
McGovern Centennial Garden and Hermann Park are some of the prettiest places in the city.

We were fortunate to visit McGovern Centennial Gardens on a sunny day during our most recent stay in Houston. Clean, peaceful, relaxing, and beautiful gardens can be seen in this location. I loved the Japanese gardens in this location, and felt extremely safe during this pandemic. I certainly recommend this place for a nice walk and being able to disconnect from reality.

This place is beautiful and we went on a nice sunny day. There’s plenty of flower gardens as well as vegetable gardens. People were laying on the lawn area just enjoying the nice day and having picnics etc.

Off the beaten track in the northeast corner of Hermann Park. Fenced with just a few gated entrances and relatively few people strolling. Quiet. Immaculately tended gardens and lawns. Pagoda donated by Taipei. Vegetable and herb garden on the far side. The Mount is impressive. Definitely worth the ascent for the view.

These gardens are truly beautiful and free to view. We loved the water feature. The vegetable and fruit gardens were very neat, we loved seeing the way different things grew (like a pineapple 🍍) The walks are very peaceful and the day was gorgeous

We were in the museum district of Houston and saw this beautiful park. We decided to get out and walk around. Why not? It’s free and everyone could use a stretch! It was gorgeous even in February! Lots of space to run, walk, sit and admire. We enjoyed walking up the dome.
Sculptures and many different flower gardens to enjoy.

The McGovern Centennial gardens are inside Hermann Park right next to the Houston Museum of Natural Science. They have a lovely gallery of sculptures and a rose garden. And a large tea pavillion. Very suitable for organising special events or photoshoots - for which prior permission should be sought. Access is free though.

This is a different kind of park, at least here in Houston, something more similar to some European green spaces designed for relaxing and a convenient café in-site; yet the McGovern Centennial Gardens have thematic zones, like a rose, arid, and woodland gardens, a piney trail with a pretty Chinese pavillion; one thing you'll immediately noticed upon arrival is "The Mount," a man-made hill with a cascade and a spiraling path that invites you to walk up to the top – don't miss it, go up!

They keep improving the parks and facilities in Hermann Park. This is a wonderful place to hang out on a nice day. It can get pretty crowded, but everyone is respectful of each other's space, so it's always manageable.

Free. Also Hermann Park is free that surrounds its. You can take a super train ride which I think is a dollar and you can rent paddle boats. The zoo is there too and I believe Thursday's are free. Check it out in website.
