I read the negative reviews but most are of owner and his politics which is not the product, but of course their choice not to indulge. I introduce more because of.
If you’re a new cook or a “seasoned” one, this is the place to go. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are spices for cuisines all over the globe and you can make your own signature spice rub or seasoning. If you ever get a chance to visit a store, enjoy the experience. Or take some time to go on the website, there’s something for everyone, and take advantage of the “Special Buys/Sales”. And
“Love People. Cook them tasty food.”

The last time I went there was before the covid-19 crisis. It's such a lovely place to shop. I got Vietnamese cinnamon, some very aromatic cumin and some nutmeg - all first rate. I am not going out shopping for the time being but when I do I will go back.

I was looking for fresh, whole spices and a friend recommended Penzey's. What a find! Not only do they have just about every spice under the sun, they have different varieties, too. Every spice has a jar you can smell...and some will clear your sinuses right up! The aromas from their spices are MUCH different than the spices I've purchased from the grocery store...so much more pungent! And you can taste the difference in the foods you make. I'm hooked!

They do not allow you to go into the store, which is understandable, but then their curbside pickup is ridiculously horrible!! You place your order and then are told, AFTER PAYING, that "During our busier times, pickups may be delayed for a few days." Well, I GUESS I hit that period because I never heard back for two days about my order for one jar. Look for other sources for your spices!

I once shopped here. It always bothered me that they did not list country of origin, and nothing is organic or fair trade. I don’t buy food from China or food or produce with pesticides. But I dropped in every once in a while. The service is almost non existent. There is no one walking the floor introducing you to their herbs which are fairly good.

This is where I parted company with this business. They asked for my email. They said it was so I would receive free coupons and spices. I gave them my personal email. I trusted them. I should not have trusted this place at all. They spammed me with political garbage! I will not say if the pathetic owner leans to the left or right. That’s not the point. The point is I was lied to. They asked for my personal information so the narcissist owner can spread his opinions, thoughts, and political views. I’m not your friend! You didn’t asked me my opinions in your store and I don’t care how you form your opinions.

I called the store and told them it was Christmas. It’s not appropriate to send out these emails. She sympathized with me but said the owner won’t stop and doesn’t care. This creeper keeps spamming me, sending me personal emails that I just don’t open. I was your customer but now the creepy stalking emails will have me going to the authorities if they don’t stop.

I walked in, then was reminded of their super political stance, calling our president a crook. Even fake news doesn't go that low. Can't shop here.

Waiting in line to check out for 40 minutes, yes, 40 minutes is inexcusable for any reason. Four cashiers were having an electronics problem and resorted to pen and paper and overkill in writing down item numbers, total name of item, punching it into cash register to add in writing the total back on paper. Seriously!!!! Check out lines snaked through the store as the clerks then began to look up each item in their own catalog to double check prices. One customer tried to give them her own list--to help everyone save time--and she was scoffed. There were no "thank yous" even after the 40-minute or longer waits. No gifts. No coupon. No nothing. There has never been a worse customer service situation ever. Advice? ALWAYS order on line. Avoid this store at all costs.

Worst spices ever. Prices are too high and the quality is low. I had to drive a long way to get there, all for nothing. I'll never go there again!

I absolutely love love this store. You can find any spice you want. Prices are reasonable and the staff is excellent. Many gift packages and a massive variety of spices to choose from. I can spend hours here.

Never been to a Penzey's store. I cook a lot and I have been searching for how to add flavor to my dishes using natural herbs and spices. Perhaps coming to this store will solve my dilemma.

They have a decent amount of spices, seasonings, salts, Dried peppers, and dried herbs. They offer their items in small glass jars, large glass jars, and bags.

The staff was polite. I asked a couple of questions, looked around, and here is what I found out:

- Nothing is certified organic
- The company has a chemist who certifies their products on a stricter basis than FDA
- Their warehouse is based in Wisconsin
- Some spices are milled at and some are bought from other sources.
- Some seasonings are salt-free
- The price per ounce for just about any of their seasonings are expensive
- They claim that their products contain: no additives, no MSG, no irradiation.
- They label all items with "best by" dates
- They don't offer samples but they have jars for sniffing for each product.
- No 'made by' dates so you can't tell how fresh it is (almost no food manufacturer does this, but it sure would be nice)

Hopefully I like the seasonings I purchased - Northwoods fire (spicy) and Mural of Flavor. I'll only be coming here to test out their products and then I'll proceed to make my own blends at home.
