Beautiful and historic
Oct 2020 • Couples
This was a beautiful and historic cemetery close to downtown. It's huge so it takes a while. It had my wife and I get into some pretty deep conversation which I valued if not enjoyed. Lots of shade and just nice to walk around in. This is the place Howard Hughes was buried if you were wondering.

A beautiful find in Houston

I love to visit cemeteries for the history and art.....this place did not disappoint. It is beautiful, very tranquil. Hard to believe you are in the middle of Houston. Trees keep everything shaded so even on my 93 degree afternoon it was nice enough to walk around for over an hour. I was only able to maybe a quarter of it so I will be back.

Strange Place for Lunch_DvB
Apr 2021
I confess, when I rode through the cemetery with a plan to sit outside and have lunch, I wondered about the idea myself. The view of the Houston skyline offered is pretty impressive. The extravagant headstones belong to notable people and families, and the benches are plentiful.

Superb cemetery
Feb 2021
We spent several hours wandering around here and enjoyed seeing the diverse headstones. We especially loved the many angel statues here. We did see many historical markers of some early Houstonians and Texians and would like to return to see more. The cemetery is well planned out and maintained with winding roads and large old oak trees. It's a beautiful peaceful place!

Hidden gem, lots of history

Happened upon this cemetery one day driving
Little did I Know this was a whose who of Houston history. They are all here and Howard Hughes is buried here to. The grounds are beautiful, all kept and rolling hills that meander for what seems miles of path way.
Definitely worth a drive and look. Just read the names

Something different
Sep 2020
I did enjoy my visit and walked around both cemetery's. The main entrance is not Glenwood Cemetery, so do not be confused. Just drive around the loop and there will be a sign showing you the turn into Glenwood once you are inside. I am sorry, but I do not remember the name of the other cemetery you enter through. They do have some unique plots and statutes. The one you see in most pictures is really the highlight. If you just want something different to do, and you are in the area, then stop by. I would not make a special trip there.

Lovely place for a wander
Sep 2020 • Family
I did not expect such a beautiful and serene cemetery in the middle of Houston. We parked and walked around for about an hour. My 4-year-old really enjoyed looking at all of the mausoleums and angel statues. We enjoyed reading the historical plaques that are scattered throughout the cemetery. There are excellent views of downtown and the large trees provide great shade.

This place is so peaceful and beautiful. The history is rich. The statues are breathe taking. We spent the WHOEL day there just walking around. I love the weeping angels. Lots of famous people buried there. We had lunch very close by.

Glenwood Cemetery is a magical place that took me 40 years to find. The history is almost as stunning as the property itself. I will be back very soon.
