Inside the church during the week from 9 am until noon you can take young preschoolers to play in their facility for free. It was a nice respite from the Houston heat. We also met some lovely moms from the area. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming.

Did not get a chance to go to a service at this church but went here for a presentation and seen how beautiful this church really is. While walking around you will see the huge chandelier and the masterful craftsmanship that was done making this relic. Would recommend stopping by and giving it a good look

Don't bother. Very unfriendly. Recently in Houston waiting on a bus with my grandchildren, granddaughter had to use the facilities badly, went to the church believing that all churches were open to assist. Nevertheless, was turned away by the security guard simply because we were not members, told we couldn't see anyone without an appointment. A guy came down on the elevator (he was a member of the choir), we asked him if he could ask someone in authority if my granddaughter (5 years old) could use the facility-he promptly went downstairs to speak to the administrator on duty at that time who responded the decision would lie with the security guard. Of course, she turned us away stating 'the rules of being a member'. Upon leaving, a lady approached and I asked her if she was a member, when she said yes, I asked her if she would kindly take my granddaughter to the restroom. And she did. This was God sending help since the church wouldn't. To this guy and woman, I say thank you.
We understand that there may be alot of foot traffic and not everyone is allowed as if this is a public facility, but what is the likelihood of a 62 year old woman with a 5 year old granddaughter coming to the church regularly?
This church advertises on a nice big neon billboard about programs that are offered and upcoming like the Summer Revival. How can anyone feel welcome in an institution where the first question upon entry is based upon you being a member or have an appointment? I suppose the appointment must be about a new membership.
This church needs to reference Matthew 7:12 and 25:45 and any of the other scriptures referencing brotherly love:
Luke 10:30-37
John 13:34-35
Romans 12:9-10
Hebrews 13:1-2
They just didn't demonstrate the true meaning of church

First Methodist is a beautiful building hidden in the sky scrapers of downtown. The 1910 Sanctuary boasts incredible architecture on both the inside & outside. The longer you look, the more details you see on the outside. The interior with its huge stained glass windows is absolutely beautiful. It also has an incredible 118 rank Aeolian Skinner pipe organ. Beautiful church in the heart of downtown!

Went there because all the museum district was closed for no reason. Really nice and helpful older lady showed us around. Beautiful church.

I was married in First UMC of Katy and attended here for more than 8 yrs. then when we moved away we discovered life in the smaller churches. The programs were great and daughter was even in the band as a singer in High School.
