We enjoyed the Houston Symphony performance, we did NOT enjoy getting seriously gouged on food and drink prices. SIXTY bucks for a puny chicken sandwich, some fruit, chips, 4 oz. glass of wine and a very stingy serving of bourbon. That was at the snack bar. Dinner at the restaurant on site, Diana America Grill, is very expensive. Budget $100 minimum per person

The next issue are the very poor seating sightlines. Pray you don't get stuck behind a slightly taller person. We had to change seats

Parking is $15 bucks, expect to drive to the roof because the $25 valet parking occupies all the lower spaces.

Won't be going back anytime soon

We came to see the premiere of The Ugly Christmas Sweater Musical at the Hobby Center and enjoyed it immensely. The performance was in Zilkha Hall, the smaller, more intimate theater at the Hobby Center. Audience members wore their best ugly Christmas sweaters, and the environment was much more relaxed and casual than performances we've seen in the bigger theater. Lots of laughs and fun audience participation with singing Christmas carols and audience members being invited up on stage to walk the catwalk. Somehow they even made it snow inside the theater. The actors were masters of improv, and we laughed non-stop. I'm hoping they bring this show back; it would make a fun family tradition to attend year after year. There's a parking garage you can use attached to the Hobby Center; drinks and snacks were available for purchase in the lobby. The only thing we missed was that they didn't provide us with programs; show info. was only available via QR code. Overall we were really impressed and would love to come back and see another show.

The show was great.. Houston Symphony Led Zeppelin Show. The facilty was horrible. Basically the seats are very small and too close. If you are over 5ft 6in tall and over 170 Lbs. you will be uncomfortable. Who designed the seats? A major FAIL! I am 6ft, 215 Lbs and had to sit with my arms crossed for the entire concert and still touched my neighbor. Very poor seating.

This is a good theatre, the staff are very friendly and the seats comfortable. We have seen a few good shows here. The drink prices tend to be on the high side but I think that is everywhere nowadays. Expect queues after the show if you valet park.

It was our first time going to Hobby Theater and I went to see Les Mis on Sunday night. Weeks ago before buying the tickets I looked on their website and seating chart to make sure where I wanted to sit. There is an option to pick a seat and see what view of the stage you'll have. Well, I splurged for Box #1 and was so disappointed. I could only see 70% of the stage and anything that was going on on the left side I completely missed out on. There was a big screen for the background through out the show to help understand the events. I missed that also. Other than that the theater was easy to find and there was parking for a fee everywhere. It was a great show and I will go see more at this venue but lesson learned on Box seats. It seemed like the other box seats people were having the same problem as they were moving around trying to see the other side.

This was not my first trip to Sarofim Hall in the Hobby Center and I have enjoyed each visit prior to this one. I must say I enjoyed this visit as well, excepting our seats. In previous visits my wife always thought it would be nice to sit in the boxes. So, I ordered my tickets online, checked the view on the interactive seating chart, and purchased box seats! Boy, was I disappointed! The seats should have been sold as "partial view" seats because you couldn't see parts of the stage unless you leaned over the railing from your seat! What is the point of paying additional $$ for a blocked view?! The other couple in the box with us was smart enough to move at intermission but I foolishly stayed and it took away from a wonderful performance of Oliver! The actors playing Fagan, Nancy, the Undertaker, Oliver, and Bet were absolutely great in their performances! They were by no means the only good performances but they stood out for me. Anyway, if you go see a performance there you might want to avoid Right Box 8, Mezzanine, unless you know going in that you will need to do some awkward sitting and leaning to see "most" of the stage!

We may be a bit 'snobby' and tend to prefer center orchestra seats where we have to worry about the actors spitting on us, but we recently saw a show sitting in the right mezzanine, and it was wonderful! This is a beautiful theatre and a fabulous venue for quality productions. We will keep coming back!

We saw Wicked on a Sunday evening and since it was a last minute "hey let's go here for a fun date night" and we've never been to the theatre I thought I'd start w/the "cheap seats" in the Gallery and I WAS IMPRESSED! There's really not a bad seat in the whole place so if you want to save money to be able to go to more shows this is a great idea. Now you do loose a bit of the magic because you can see the person on stage but can't see details like if they're wearing glasses, facial expressions, costume details etc but they were the easiest seats to get in and out of the theatre we've ever experience at any theatre! The show ended at 10:30 and since we were near the top row in the Gallery we were literally in our car in the parking garage by 10:45 because we were able to grab the first elevator and beat all the traffic out of the theatre. I'll buy those seats for every show unless it's a favorite show and I want to be in the thick of things - THOUGH THE SEATS ARE VERY SMALL - LIKE AIRLINE SEATS so you're on top of your neighbor so I'd rather have an aisle seat and be in the gallery than in the middle of a row even if it affords me a closer view - but that's just my opinion.

This review is for the (Radio City Music Hall “Rockettes” Christmas Spectacular) in the Hobby Theater ~ Dec 2014. The Hobby parking garage filled up fast and was full 45 minutes prior to the show starting. This is the norm for Hobby Theater and other shows I have been to. I did noticed the Hobby was still accepting valet parking all the way up to the start of the show. The police tried to keep anyone from dropping off on the front street. We opted to park underground and walk to the Hobby venue. If you want a burger (etc.) the Hard Rock Café (HRC) is within walking distance and if you want to skip the HRC wait-line go to: www.hardrock.com/px/default.aspx?selLocation=HOUSTON to request Priority Seating before you get to the café. Make sure you tell the HRC you already requested Priority Seating when you go in. As for Hobby, they have a (pricey) restaurant/bar in Hobby. No reservations were needed for the bar in their restaurant. During the show we sat in Row G Seats 1 and 2; these seats were very nice (see the attached notes on the good and bad seats). Overall the Rockettes were very good. The only down side to this particular show was at the very end; they should of had a more climactic culmination that would of left the audience with a feeling of the holiday spirit and Christmas...

If you enjoy the performing arts you can find a ticket in many price ranges. The seating provides a good view from most anywhere in the house. I have never seen a bad performance here. In fact, they have all been excellent and I enjoy the Houston shows as much as Broadway.

The parking leaves something to be desired, but is usually manageable. They provide valet parking, but on our last visit we were told valet was full so I suggest you arrive early if you don't want to park and walk. There is a parking garage on-site as well as many others in the area.

There is food and drinks available before the show as well during intermission, but it will cost you. If you dont want to spend a fortune on a salad or sandwich (there is also hot food available), I suggest you eat before you go. There is also a bar, but the wine selection is limited.

Tickets can be purchased online as well as at the box office on site. There are usually both matinee shows and evening shows available. Dress is usually more casual for the matinee, but you will find some still dress up for this show. The evening show is more dressy, but once again you will find some attend even these shows a little more casual than they did in the past.
