New Years Eve was a total disaster. I bought a $180 package for admission and dinner for 2. The venue was packed. We were in the middle of the line. There were not 2 seats together for my wife and myself. What an abortion. We decided to leave. Even with seats together I can't imagine eating in such close quarters. There were no refunds or exchanges btw. Shame on y'all. Houston Improv owes me $180. Beware this venue. Place seems super ghetto too.

My wife, her friend, and I went to the Paul Virzi show @7pm on Sat. We had a great time. Seating is a little cramped. They had 2 couples sitting at the table next to us. Drinks are expensive (as expected), and there is a built in 18% tip. Service was good. We didn't have anyone "shushing" us. As the other person mentioned the comics asked the audience some questions, and some individuals responded. He even game some people a hard time. No big deal. Had a great time.

We did enjoy the comedians, Paul Virzi, Kevin Ryan, and the host. They all were excellent and provided many good laughs. We knew that the food would be so-so, thus we ate before we arrived. This was a good choice. Seating was so cramped that there would have been little to no room to eat. We paid our general admission & then were hit with an $11.00 "convenience fee" - per ticket. Then, after paying, we see that there is a "2 item purchase minimum" per person. Drink prices weren't cheap (as expected). THEN, an 18% tip is added. Even with the fees, at this point it was an OK evening, but then during the performance things changed. Improv as I have always known it includes interaction with the audience. If anyone in the audience said anything to the comedian, a man came around and scolded them. We had this happen at our table and saw it happen at least 5 or 6 other times. Now that puts a damper on things! One comedian asked a lady a question and when she answered, the guy scolded her too! The offending person was told: "There is to be no communication with the performer."

I love stand-up comedy and the IMprov makes it affordable. I've seen Shawn and Marlon Wayons, Guy Torry, Rod-Man, John Witherspoon, Luenell, Bruce Bruce (twice) and every single time laughed my butt off. People complaining about a 2 item minimum purchase --it can be two orders of fries-- should probably go on a picnic at the park. To bring in that type of talent isn't cheap and I think we are getting to see these talents for pretty cheap. Who cares about all teh otehr stuff, cramped seating or whatever. The improv is awesome. Keep bringing in the comedians!
