I had fun going to the improv. There were plenty of parking space bc it’s at the Marque and I have been there for as long as I can remember. When I went the other day to see B Simone, I did notice that the layout has changed since I last went there. Where I was seated I was not able to see the stage or the comedian which was a bummer bc they were very animated. The problem was the people who sat closer to the stage. They blocked my view; big and tall people. It was also very crowded where I was bumping into the lady at the table next to mine and vice versa. We touched arms a few times during the show too bc space was so tight. And no I’m not a big girl either. I’m 120lb on a good day and 130 on my fat days. The space is not for Texas size people honey. They need to do better about the spacing instead of trying to jam people in there like sardines for some extra dollars. I was not impressed with the seating arrangement at all. I did get general admission tickets. So if you’re short like me, go early at 5:30pm for the 7:30 pm seating if u want to see the stage and have better seats. It’s first come first served for the general admission tickets. The menu was one of those that u need to scan the QR code on your phone. I got the passion fruit mojito. It was delicious but there was minimum alcohol in it. The way they have their food and drink order was very fast. Food and drinks came out within 5-10 minutes of ordering. I ordered a hamburger. It was def cold when it came out. You can tell they precooked it ans didn’t even have it under the damn heater. The onion rings were good and crispy as were the fries & the chicken strips. They also tack on 18% service charge and if you don’t order 2 items per person (which is a requirement at every comedy club I know), they will add $4 for each item that wasn’t ordered. Also don’t forget to tip bc the service charge is somehow not considered tip.

The comedian, Ralphie May, was great! The venue was clean and classy. The seating was close but not cramped. The drinks were good, but WAY overpriced. At the bar, we ordered a Crown and Coke, Crown and Sprite, Screwdriver, and a Margarita for a total of $53. At our table, a round of 4 $5 shots, a Coke and a water was $33. We loved the entertainment but think we will drink at Cafe Adobe next door before going in.

Great ambiance, the food was okay. The drinks were on point. Ever time I visit I have a great time. We'll be back in August to see Aries Spears.

New Years Eve was a total disaster. I bought a $180 package for admission and dinner for 2. The venue was packed. We were in the middle of the line. There were not 2 seats together for my wife and myself. What an abortion. We decided to leave. Even with seats together I can't imagine eating in such close quarters. There were no refunds or exchanges btw. Shame on y'all. Houston Improv owes me $180. Beware this venue. Place seems super ghetto too.

I have frequented the your location for years. The Earthquake show on Saturday, June 3rd was the last stop for our group celebrating my youngest daughter's graduation. There would be 7 of us. I purchased the tickets over the phone, picked them up at will call and was seated along with 3 of my guest after waiting in line for about 30 minutes. Those of us who had arrived ordered and my son walked the ticket up to the front so that the remaining quest could be escorted in. Shortly thereafter a hispanic guy with a beard approaches me and says you're gonna have to scoot over because you can't just take over this whole table by yourself. I explained that there were 7 of us 3 times at a low tone and asked that he check the ticket up front. He said I needed to go get the ticket and either way the couple was sitting down. Then went on to say if I continued being so rude he would have me put out. The waiter who was waiting on us walks up and advised that there were in fact 7 of us, but the hispanic guy continues to tell the couple to sit. Then I say the hell they will because now I'm pissed. I have been disrespected and yelled at in front of my children along with everyone else. The lady who was part of the couple begins to curse me out and another one of your staff approaches me and tells me he's gonna put me out. Why? I'm sitting in my assigned sit. Why is this happening to me? I walk past to the front and the guy tells me its fine the hispanic guy has it wrong. As I walked by the other guests that were accompanying the couple made slurs as I walked by. When I return to my seat everyone is gone, but the comic Ali gets on the stage and proceeds to say how black women always acting up. He even went further to say he would put me out. The hispanic guy continuously keeps coming to our table blocking the show pretending to clear etc., but he's not our server. Management never came to apologize for the error. I called to speak to the manager Tuesday after and left a message, but no one had the decency to call me back. The irony is that the entire show there were 2 seats directly across the aisle from us that went unoccupied the entire night, but the guy chose me to single out. Why was the assumption made by your staff that me as a black woman was trying to get special seating that I was not entitled to, but the white couple that bought separate seats was given priority and respect. This woman was allowed to approach me about a table that I paid for. There is no excuse for the way my guest and I were treated even after it was clear that YOU ALL MESSED UP. Although, Earthquake put on an excellent show I couldn't help, but feel humiliated. My children didn't even eat because they were so upset at the way I was treated. The fact that mgt did nothing to make it right is madness to me. The only reason why I didn't have us all walk out is I didn't want to ruin it for the kids, but the truth is after the fact they were upset we didn't just leave. Not to long ago I was in a wheelchair and the Improv was one of the few places I could go that would accommodate me, but this experience showed a side to this place I don't like and won't return. There is no way I will pay money to be humiliated.

Business
A good business recognize and take pride in the service they provide. However, Improv Houston seems to think their employees take precedence over the need of their customers.

I stood by the window for 15 mins waiting on two employees engaged in conversation while a third was on the phone having a personal conversation. The two employees finally walked away and the remaining person on the phone turned her back to me. So I walked away feeling unworthy of their business. I would not want anyone to be humiliated in such a way where the focus on the customer is their last order of responsibility. Stay away from this place - you will not be appreciated. There are many other comedy clubs in Houston that would deeply appreciate your business.

First time at this club. I've been going to comedy clubs for several years so I'm used to the hidden fees they charge. I'd rather just pay it all up front but I guess this method brings in more business for them. It's the price you pay to bring in talent to the area, I suppose. The club was very nice, clean, and smoke free. Yes the seating is very tight. Food and drinks are good. The service was good the night we were there. You've got to buy 2 items and they will charge you 18% on top of it. That's not a tip either...it's a service fee. You'll also pay a $10 convenience fee for your ticket. Know all the fees going into it...some did not and were not happy. We had a good time here seeing Christopher Titus.

6/30/2016 This was a part of my husband's birthday treat to see comedian Aries Spears(hilarious) at the Houston Improv. This is only our second time and we laughed and laughed and ate.
There is plenty of well lit parking. The first time we visited we were early and able to select from open seating. This visit we were also early and told that we had to wait for the section we wanted to open.

Restrooms were nice and clean.

We selected to order food and tea from the bar.
1 onion rings(good)...$6.95
tender basket...$18.95(not worth the price)
nachos...$9.95(okay)
2 ice teas...$8.00( I did not drink mine because the glass was dirty)

Once the seating in the section we wanted opened we went in and were told the food we ordered from the bar did not count towards the 2 item minimum so we ordered:
1 bottled water...$3.50(only water they served)
tropical tickle...$4.50
brownie...$6.95...Grad total of 74.23

The comedian Aries Spears made it worth it and gave us our ticket + food money's worth.

Really great place to just laugh. We will return and just wait to get the minimum 2 items from the show area next time.

We purchased front section tickets way in advance for the September Damon Wayans show and we ended up located right in front of the stage. Could not have been better. Got to interact with the two intro comics as well as Damon Wayans, Food and drinks are a tad expensive but good and they were not shy with the alcohol in the drinks. Service was prompt and excellent.

The Improv is alright for a Comedy Club. They're located in a good area off of I-10 and 6-10 in the Marquee entertainment center. I think it's very spacious and has a lot of potential but the seating to me just wasn't properly designed. Places like this in my opinion should be designed with stadium seating so everybody can see the stage. When we got there, it was okay because we had a table with booth seating on one side and my a date and I sat on the booth. However, there was a group of women who came in late and they were seated at our open seats in front of us and two of them were kind of tall and pretty much made it impossible to see the performer. On top of that, the staff doesn't really come around much so if you don't order something in the very beginning, you probably won't get something for a while if you're looking to be waited on. I would give this place 2 stars but I gave it 3 because I believe it has a lot of potential to be better.
