The House of Blues offers concerts, comedians, and other shows. Michael Yo gave a great show and House of Blues is a great place to go see comedians. On the other hand the website offers little help for a first time visitor, and the material provided to ticket purchasers was sorely lacking in detail. The website and preshow material essentially told me the address of the venue and that doors opened at 7:00 PM. Here are some things I learned that I feel should be available on their website. The parking garage next door is manned and available until 1:00 AM. There is valet parking available at the venue address 1204 Caroline St. You are welcome to lineup prior to doors opening at the marked location on the second floor. When doors open there will be a delay prior to a pre-show. In our case there was a D. J. as soon as doors opened. At 8:05 the first of three warm up acts began. The acts were 10-15 minutes and were entertaining. One was local radio personality Rullo. Michael Yo gave us about 1 hour of comedy.
Here are some additional details. The line was several hundred people long by 7: PM. Three staff walked the line offering wrist bands for alcohol drinkers and scanning digital tickets well in advance of 7: PM. All bags were checked efficiently after doors opened and bag policy was clearly stated on the website. The theater is two levels. The front of the floor level is folding chairs sold as reserve seats. There are bars on the side and back. Behind the chairs is a raised area with tables sold to groups of four. Restrooms are also in the back. The bars sell alcohol, soft drinks, and snacks. I did not go to the upper level which had steep rows of seats.
The website does mention that during concerts the floor area is open standing and dancing is encouraged.

First the band (The Molly Ringwalds)...they are awesome, phenomenal, entertaining and fun to watch, plus they are talented.
Now the venue (House of Blues)...if you do not like standing for 4 hours, recommend to pay the price for seating in the upper room. After waiting outside until the doors opened and let everyone in, those who purchased general admission now had to stand throughout the show. While the facility was not as large as others I have been to, it was spacious enough for the concert and their sound system was top notch.
I was really surprised at the efficiency of the bar staff to handle the large number of people in the upper section. Access upstairs is by ticket only...you have to be seated up there. "Sarah the Bartender" was friendly and quite good at getting drinks out quickly. She also remembered for the most part everyone's drink when we came back for seconds. We will be back as we have been before.

We ate at the restaurant and the portions are so large that we shared dinner (fried chicken and a southern salad). The entertainment was subpar. It was the girl’s first time performing and while her music selections were good they did not suit her voice. The people checking in patrons were inattentive. The servers and busboys did a fantastic job.
We went to the burlesque show in the Bronze Peacock room. The show was fun-definitely a good time for first time burlesque show viewers. We paid extra to be in the VIP section. It seemed like the section was overbooked. They had 4 seats to a “table”. The tables were mostly low like a round coffee table. The seats were squished in. The waitstaff asked us one time if we needed anything before the show started and then never came back, nor could you get their attention. There was only 2 servers for the section that probably should have had 5-6. The room is also very dated and not as nice as pictures showed. Drinks were large and the bar area was efficient.

I hate that I have to continue wasting time on this, I have sent emails, answered reviews, contact multiple departments… Still NO answer, no nothing.
I bought VIP tickets for a concert, 1 ticket was an upgrade and apparently something happened in the system that they were not able to see the information of my upgrade, after wasting more than an hour, the meet and greet started and me and my friend were still outside trying to find help, finally when the meet and greet was almost over managers from the band were able to help us, people from security were very helpful too but the person in the ticket office was the one making everything impossible, I showed her my payment confirmations, emails, even when the manager showed her that I was on the list with my two tickets she was still not helping. When I first got there she even said “I don’t see anything in the system and I can’t help you, if you want you can send an email”, what an answer!! Terrible service! I had to ask her who was going to help me because an email in that moment was obviously not the solution and she told me I could wait outside for someone from the band with no more than that, that’s when I had to ask the security people to help me, they were the ones that found the people from the band and after the managers found the way to validate the information with the ticket office person they let me in, but then the issues continued.
I bought two early entries “party pass” I did it for the drinks, my VIP tickets included the meet and greet that I almost missed thanks to the people in the ticket office, so I was already inside the concert area. When the meet and greet finished (the band was really nice and they were just waiting for me and my friend) I went to the bar to exchange the drinks that were offered on the pass and they told me those tickets were just valid in the restaurant not in the bar and I asked to go to the restaurant but they told me if I leave they didn’t guarantee that I was going to be able to go in again. I want a refund at least for the party passes. Everything was really annoying, I did everything and bought everything to have fun and after spending more than $300 in tickets and extras it was a nightmare and very stressful moment.

The people checking customers in seem like the are in need of authority! Measuring womens tiny wallets and denying entrance for some, not for others. Check your wallet in for $10
They will sell a clear bag for $10, yet you can’t put your small wallet in it?
Just stupid and ignorant on the part of the employees.
Why have a clear bag at all? What can you put in it?
$13 for one drink, stand because not enough seating.
Better off at Toyota Center for bigger venues.

Food was pretty good, can’t complain. Live music was great. The service however, was pretty average. The server was not very attentive and tried to give us the check before asking if we even wanted desert.

The concert was absolutely amazing, but the Bronze Peacock Room was super small really hot. It was almost as if the room didn't have any ventilation. Rapsody's show went long with 3 openers, therefore the heat became unbearable. I was surprised the stage was that small. All in all, it's a great venue for up and coming artists and Rapsody was absolutely AMAZING. Would go again if it's an artist I like. Just hope it has air.

This is a good small concert venue but this time I was just unlucky with the seat I chose. If I'd sat anywhere else it would have been great but had a giant in front of me and couldn't see much.
Still enjoyed the Flock of Seagulls Concert and thought the support band, Strangelove were very good as well.
The bar area needed more organization, got into a queue only to find it wasn't a real one and had to queue again.
Got to meet Mike Score at the end which was a bonus.

We were on the floor in standing room only. It was full, but not too crowded. All the employees were very professional and helpful, from the ticket taker and security personnel that check your bag and wand you to the bartenders and the bathroom attendant. The sound was great. The place was clean and well maintained. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.

We attended the "World Famous House of Blues Gospel Brunch" and afterwards wished that we had went elsewhere. The tickets are expensive, but there is an included show, which in other cases would make up for the cost. Here, the food was a MAJOR disappointment.
Show: This is gospel music, not a regular concert....as advertised. The show and music was good in this regard and was lively. Very lively in fact and nice. There was a lot of audience participation. We enjoyed the show. The beginning time on the tickets is 1:30pm. That is when the doors open and all seats are assigned. You begin to eat upon seating and even through the show. The show started at about 2:15, and ended 45 minutes later. Total time inside: 1 1/2 hours.
Food: without the food, the show would have been good. Terrible, terrible food. First, the fruit. Slices of honeydew and cantaloupe were hard and not sweet. The coffee was in a thermos and not even lukewarm. There were no spoons to stir the coffee....I asked for one and waited..waited...waited. Finally the server came back saying they couldn't find any spoons and presented a wrapped napkin with a fork and knife, saying to use the knife to stir.
There was chicken and waffles, but the fried chicken was served cold. Not appetizing at all, and very dry, no spices at all. The breakfast potatoes were not even warm, just room temp. My question is how can so many items be served improperly...room temp chicken, coffee, potatoes, etc. I would rate the food a ONE star and the show a four star, thus compromising on three stars (reluctantly). The problem was that there was no management to be seen. Plus, you get your food at a buffet (that's ok), but then it takes forever for servers to take away the dirty dishes. Also, the chairs are packed too close together. The venue was only set up for a limited amount of people. There was lots of extra floor space that went unused. We are both skinny and were crowded in on long bench tables. A very heavy lady was across from us and got into an argument about no space with an unknown fellow diner.
We were so hoping this would be good so we could take friends here in the future, but we were disappointed and will not be back.

Is VIP Seating open for all concerts at House of Blues? The only options for tickets on this particular event say General Admission, but I am traveling with my boyfriend who has rheumatoid arthritis.
Written October 4, 2022
Is the VIP really worth it? It’s advertised online as including valet parking, skipping the line privilege, access and discounts to the Foundation Room, and the only thing I’m truly interested in is the elevated seating area 30ft from the stage. I spoke with a representative from HOB about a month ago and the price was said to be $150 for two people, but now is $175. Has anyone that has actually been this venue seen the set up, and can say whether or not it is worth it? Has anyone made use of the VIP option, and got the value of what they spent?

Hi Rudy,
You might be referring to the World Famous Gospel Brunch at House of Blues. It features a nondenominational, interactive gospel show and a Southern-inspired buffet. Tickets are $42 for adults and $35 for seniors (plus, any applicable fees). Group discounts apply with 8 or more tickets. You can visit online for more information and upcoming dates.
House of Blues has actually has two restaurants, two music venues, a VIP club and a full special events team!
