We have seen Greatest Hits Album Side B, Feelin Groovy, Back to the 80’s and last night we saw Broadway at the Box. We are never disappointed and will be there for the Beatles Holiday Cabaret in December. The performances exceeded expectations in every way. The band was great, the vocals and harmony were amazing and the comedy mixed in was the icing on the cake. It sounded good and we decided to go. Firstly, it’s in a great location and it’s easy to find parking, in an area with lots of good restaurants. As soon as the show started, we were impressed by the synergy between these five performers and The Band. Each person draws your full attention with their passion and visually exciting performance. - Karen R20 contributionsOpps… they did it again!Opps… they did it again! We were there last night for the opening night of Damaged Divas of the Decades and the show was wonderful. We purchased the best seat option offered and were very comfortable and had a great view with our 4 chairs and table for drinks. Highly recommend! It is a mostly musical show with just the right amount of creative and hilarious commentary and introductions between numbers. An intimate setting makes everything even more unique and special. This show is music from the 60-70s. Such fun singing along. Price is incredible too! Tonight, we went to see the Feeling Groovy show. What a great show!! Their voices are incredible and, over the years, they are getting better and better!! The band is outstanding, they all play different instruments marvelously. If you like good music and great singing The Music Box is definitely the place to go! Fabfrigentastic Broadway At The Box 2022 show!!!!!!!!! Rebekah was her usual outstanding self. A great performer. B rad was of course Brad. He is one of the funniest people I know.Kristina was her absolute fantastic self at tonight's performance. Luke, do not ask him who is father is, because it is not "Darth Vader"! Luke's performance is always a tremendous adventure. Cay, hmmm, how to describe Cay? The funniest thing about Cay is the way she talks about her "cat". Cay is an outstanding performer. Her music and wit are top notch. Of course, you cannot forget to talk about the outstanding band members! Pat makes sure everything about the show is perfect. Mark plays a real mean guitar.
Long Le, the ladies man, plays the bass. Arthur is the drummer and man can he play. Austin is the keyboard master. Each new show is another example of why they continue to be number 1 in Houston for outstanding entertainment. Beer and wine are available plus sodas and water. Great snackies also. Since the shows change every few months, you need to order your tickets in advance. Reserved seating is available along with general admission seats. Once you experience these fabfrigentastic people, you will find yourself coming back again, again and again!

What a fantastic show and a fun night! All of the artists are incredibly talented and so entertaining. I found myself singing along in my head, (no one wants to hear me sing!) tapping my foot and saying, “Incredible!” after every song. The band was amazing as well. I have never seen a musician play the piano AND trumpet at the same time and do it so well! I highly recommend visiting The Music Box Theater although please save me a seat next to the band because I will not be missing their upcoming performances!

We’ve attended virtually every show for the last couple of years (including during the very lean-for-them immediate post Covid era) and are now taking a break. It’s just not the same for us in the new location.
The seats are so crammed it’s ridiculous. Spirit Airlines offers more personal space. My husband was literally sharing 2 inches of his seat with the stranger sitting next to him at our last (and final) show!
Some of the so called reserved table seats/preferred/or premium seats either a) don’t actually feature a table in front of you, or b) back up against a padded yet vertical wall. You’ll be sitting completely straight up! If your very lucky you’ll wind up with both of these terrible features (no table and the vertical wall) and all at a premium price! Oh there’s no legroom, either, so your (often) elderly fellow patrons will be tripping and falling all over you in order to get in and out: pray they aren’t carrying a glass of wine…
We loved the old venue. Even if it lacked lots of toilets and parking was minimally challenging it was so charming and special. I understand it got too expensive for them but the new venue (seating issues aside) feels sterile and boring. Despite some efforts to hide it, this is obviously a school for upper middle class arts kids being used as a professional venue by The Music Box. They’ve also raised prices over the old location…
Beyond the venue issues the whole operation appears to have lost something. The staff aren’t the same. Before it felt like we were visiting old friends. Not anymore. For example, the performers used to mingle with the audience before each performance and during intermission. We haven’t seen that since the move.
The shows themselves are still good but not as good as before (in our humble opinion.) The recent 70s show had a weird subplot and the music seemed more obscure, almost like they are bored with playing the hits…
It gives me no pleasure to write this review as they seem like nice people but I sense there’s something adrift and hope they might course correct. If I’m wrong then perhaps we just aren’t the correct audience for them anymore. At the bare minimum, they desperately need to create more categories of seats so patrons can reserve what they actually want… like say, some elbow room, a real table, and a non-vertical rear seat! This alone would make a difference.
We might try them again in a few months to see if anything has changed for the positive.

Great take!!!! So glad we went to the Music Box. Don’t miss this!
The 2019 Review show contained a variety of musical selections, comedy and skits. The wine was definitely good too... lol. A lot of entertainment for the money. We recommend the reserved seats.

There is nothing in Houston that even compares to the musical performance that you get when visiting the Music Box Theater. Each visit is a new sensation of sound, song and comedy. The performers are all in their selves each special and bring to the group a harmony of song and wit that is outstanding. Whether you want to visit during a weekend day or an evening, their performance will "blow your mind"! Adding that the music itself is from live performers adds to the seal of each production. On top of that (what more can they do to make it even better???) you can have alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. If you have not been here before, I advise you to come early and get a non-reserved seat, but the best in my opinion is to reserve a place up front near the stage where the action is even better. Check the Music Box theater out before you go? Yes you can. They have many many performances posted to Facebook. Check them out in the privacy of your own home and laugh, enjoy and singalong. What a way to spend your time in Houston!

2019 in Review was an evening of great singing, comedy accompanied by an incredible band. Delightful. Fun. Laughter and sometimes — an audience so quiet, listening to catch the very last note.

We go to almost every show they produce and am never disappointed. Their voices are Broadway quality and the productions are very smart and creative. They make you feel like family. I highly recommend that you take a night out to relax, have a glass of wine and listen to great music and comedy at this theater.

I purchased premium seat tickets for my husband and myself on the web site about 10 days before the Sept 2, 2023 performance. About five days before the performance a friend asked to join us. Not sure how to add her so we are sitting together, I called the number on the web site. I ended up purchasing her premium seat ticket over the phone. Her ticket was $52 and our two tickets were $57.70 each! I was told you should always make the reservation over the phone to avoid the additional charges. How should I know!! Lesson learned!
When we were seated last night, we were at seats that are up against the stage and right next to the band!! It was awful and hard to believe they are considered premium seats. This is only our third performance, probably our last. It was so loud, not only from the band, but also from the performers. All we heard was noise!

We have been attending performances at The Music Box Theater for years. The performers are all so very, very talented, incredibly entertaining and the venue is awesome. We highly recommend The Music Box Theater and can promise... you will not be disappointed! Enjoy!

It's really difficult to explain how special this place is..... Wildly entertaining, professionally stunning, personally adorable.... The entire team from the actors, the band , Pat in the lighting booth, relatives and loved ones manning the bar & the box office come together for every show to make you feel warm incredibly welcome and completely entertained..... Yes, there is a small concession stand that sells soft drinks, bottled water, beer, and wine. They also have pub mix, cookies, and occasionally other snacks and candies.

My sincere apologies for not noticing your question. I am certain the opportunity has passed to visit us, but for the future...We are not a theater who gears itself for children, but we are "family friendly". I would say what we do would be PG-13. Hope that helps you and thanks for asking.

Jeans are fine, very relaxed and casual. May even see a few shorts. For the 60s & 70s show I plan on wearing a tie dye shirt jeans and tennis shoes. And I won’t be underdressed. Lol

There are a number of restaurants in the Kirby/Richmond area. Some are even walking distance from the theater. For afterward, there is the House of Pies as Gordon mentioned and in a strip center across Richmond, the Dessert Gallery is perfect for a late-night snack.

There are plenty of places near the Music Box. The one I like is The House of Pies on Kirby is not far. It is a nice place with good food and a Strawberry Cheese Cake that will know your socks off.

The Musicbox is about a block North of Richmond Ave. There are about half a dozen places at the intersection of Kirby Dr and Richmond ave, Papadeaux, a sushi place, Pico’s (mex) and further North a block or two on Kirby there are 1/2 dozen more including Beck’s Prime, Grace’s etc

Starts at 7:30pm....one 15 min intermission.....i believe we are out before or by 9pm.... we're always having so much fun I never even noticed!
