This was my first time at The Owl Bar and I had a great time. The staff is very friendly as well at the customers. The happy hour drink specials and fabulous.

I recently visited the Owl Bar for the first time to catch a Rockets playoff game. They have a nice parking lot in the rear that holds probably 25 cars or so and is well lit. The inside part has a nice interior with a tall ceiling, bar (of course), plenty of TV's and a popcorn machine. Up on a shelf is a large collection of owl figurines hence the name of the bar! The outside part forms an L shape around the exterior that also had plenty of TV's, an outside bar and a small stage for live music. Its pretty unique place to visit. They have a big patios (two of them) and dance floor for those that want to dance. The service was kind of slow when I went but it was Saturday and the place was packed.

We went to the Owl Bar, which we have been to before, to hear music by The Sparky Parker Trio (Blues band) which I recently learned about via the Houston Blues Museum as the band is playing at Discovery Green soon. We wanted to preview the band as we want to take some friends (to see the band) who will be visiting us from the Washington DC area in April. We had some drinks and waited for the band. (They were advertised as starting at 7 p.m., but it turns out they did not start until 9 p.m., so we hung around and had drinks and chatted with some of the other guests.) We very much enjoy having drinks at the bar and the service is always friendly. The band was great and we kind of had them all to ourselves, which was great. (Rodeo going on this week, Spring Break, so folks home with the kids, etc.) Sparky was there early to set up, so we got to meet him. Looking forward to going back to The Owl when Sparky and other bands are playing. So, thank you, The Owl for keeping the music alive and kicking in Houston. BTW - the place is decorated with LOTS of owl figurines up high near the ceiling and some owl photos on the walls, so if you have an owl figurine you want to donate, they just might take it. We took our owl one time, but it was just so he could visit, but we got the photo op with all the other owls.) And, no, it has nothing to do with Rice University, just in case you were wondering (we asked, so now you don't have to). BTW2 - They have a pretty large parking lot in the back, so you can self park.…
