Cool vibe
Jun 2021 • Family
We stopped in for a beer and to check out the venue. They have a good selection of beer. It's the only alcohol they sell. They have non-alcoholic drinks also. They don't serve food. The venue is cool. Covered tables and fans help with the heat. Lots of games to play and good community feel. Worth checking out.

Good beer

This was a short walk from another beer garden we were at so thought, why not.

Sat outside and sipped our beer while watching a couple play mini golf with the set up they had. Creative.

Craft Brew and Mini Golf, Anyone?
Dec 2019
With the rapid rise of craft beer, one doesn’t have to venture very far to find a local brewery. Cities large and small often claim multiple breweries of their own and with so much competition, it makes sense to offer something that sets you apart in a crowded market. Under the Radar Brewery in Houston is one brewery that stands out in the pack.

Under the Radar is not a very large brewery. There is limited space on the inside, but the outside offers a good deal of seating in the way of picnic tables. When I visit, I do what most people do and order a beer or flight, then find an outdoor table for seating. They have some good brews here, my personal favorites being the Mid frequency IPA, Dirty Blonde, and What the Gekkie.

This brewery keeps guests entertained with games. They have complementary games, including board games, cornhole, etc but the most memorable is the beer- themed mini golf course. This is the standout feature I was referring to earlier. I have visited a LOT of breweries, but this is the only one I have been to that has its own mini golf course. Yes, it’s a small course but the kegs and overall beer theme make it super cool and unlike anyplace else I have visited.

Under the Radar Brewery doesn’t serve food of their own, but it is common to find a food truck parked outside and you are free to bring your own food if you like. Most people who visit come here for some friendly chilling with others and a good number do, indeed, bring their own food. If you don’t have food, there is a good chance that a food truck will be there. And if not, well, don’t worry- just drink the brew and play some games.

With dozens of breweries in the Houston area, it is becoming imperative that a brewery set itself apart from the crowd. Under the Radar Brewery has accomplished exactly that with its beer – themed mini golf and, combined with the tasty suds and outdoor breezes, it makes for a pleasant way to spend time in Houston, Texas.

The Midtown Bock was one of the best I've had.
Aug 2018 • Couples
We were in Houston for a conference and wanted to try some of the local breweries. Under the Radar was on our list.

We went there on Sunday, August 12th, around 6pm. We figured it would be slow, which would be okay for our first time. It was very quiet and I think we were only two of four or five people there. We figured it would be a nice way to get a feel for the place.

So we went up to the bar and were told by the bartender they were out of a few things because the head brewer had been sick for a couple weeks. The bartender was apologetic and let us try the four beers they had. Unfortunately, one of the ones I wanted to try was the Porter Authority. So we tried what they had and settled on their Midtown Bock. For me, bocks are enjoyable but not very memorable beers. This one surprised me by being a very solid beer and probably one of the best bocks I've ever had. Enjoyable and memorable, heh.

Again, unfortunately, their on site food truck was closed early that day so we left after only one beer because we needed to eat and didn't know the area well enough to know if we'd be back. We snagged glass. Wish they'd had some shirts (the display ones looked cool) but they were sold out.

The brewery itself was very open with lots of space and lots of seating. I've seen pictures of it busy so I know it fills up. Not a lot of parking (one small lot and some street) but I would imagine its not really a problem for them. The one guy on staff (should have asked his name, sorry) was friendly and helpful.

We would definitely go back if given the chance and hopefully be able to try everything. Thanks Under the Radar!

Plenty of shade
Jul 2018 • Family
We came by on Saturday morning with the toddler and dogs to enjoy the shade trees and games. The place is kid and dog friendly with water bowls for the pups and corn hole and wooden jenga games for the kids (and adults!) Having not had Under the Radar beer before, we ordered a flight. They had fliers up advertising Wednesday night trivia.

Nice microbrewery with a small beer garden.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon in June. Small place, tucked away on a quiet street. I would describe the ambiance as “industrial”, but in s good way. Tables are set outside for the customers. Nice selection of beers. Friendly staff.

Under the Radar Brewery Review

Decided to visit this micro brewery today. Ordered the Mid Frequency IPA at 7.1% alc. good hoppy beer. Henry the bar keep will take care of you. Set up in a garage in the 69/Third Ward area. A bit of a crawl but worth it.
