Each year this museum has several Christmas tree decorated by different people from the valley. You get to see different cultures decorate their trees. It is a small museum but also has several buildings outside that have been moved to this site. You get to see the history of the valley. Each season they have a special display for that time of year
Halloween is great. If in the area don't miss it.

Very nice place to visit. Good short film of the history of Harlingen and the challenges they faced. Four buildings from early years. The scariest for me was the hospital. Small gift shop, very friendly staff. Well worth the visit and the admission is a donation of you wish.

I love to check out museums in small towns to learn a little about the history of the area. This free (donations accepted) museum was one of the better ones I have been to during my travels. It has a few historical buildings you could walk through set up with old artifacts from the area. The buildings are air-conditioned too which is nice on a hot day. There was a house of the founder of Harlingen, the first hospital and a stagecoach rest stop. It'll take about an hour to walk through or a little longer if you like reading all the details about the displays. I would definitely go again.

This makes a nice spot to learn of the history of the Rio Grande Valley. It is well worth a visit. Our guide was very informative, and had a great time telling us of the history of the area.

We enjoyed the little museum... It's old and tired in a few of the exibit buildings. But it gives a nice historic review of the history of the area. Stop in and enjoy it.

The museum has three historical buildings on its grounds: the original home of Lon C. Hill, Harlingen's town founder; the Paso Real Stagecoach Inn, and Harlingen's first hospital. This small museum is fun to visit and all buildings are open for visitors. The main building has three rooms which feature different historical themes. Guided tours can be arranged by calling ahead. A nice visit into Harlingen's past .

We enjoyed our time at the Harlingen Arts & Heritage Museum. The buildings were very well done and it was fun to wander through them at our own pace.

My heading refers to the current exhibit which went on display tonight, a Christmas tree exhibit which runs logically until Christmas. Various art and other exhibits are displayed periodically throughout the year in the main building. The main purpose of the complex is to preserve and display buildings and artifacts dating back to the turn of the 20th century when the city of Harlingen was founded. Like many small city museums, it focusses on local history and is worth a visit for history buffs if you are in the area with time on your hands.

I advised the young attendant that we were there for the 2nd time because the last time the museum was closed. He welcomed us and proceeded to suggest we see the gallery and as we did he went and closed all museum doors?? We then asked him we just finished telling you this is our 2nd attempt to see the museum why are you closing??? His response was sorry it might rain. We were appalled and we are NEVER going to take any more visiting family again. It's sad because this place Needs visitors, its always so dead, here I am thinking I am helping tourism in Harlingen but to no avail.

This museum is filled with treasures. The old buildings transported there are only a small part. The really interesting collection is in the big buildings in the rear. There are also temporary exhibits inside the front building. Some of them can be quite unique.
