If driving westwards you literally don't have any reason to get of the car, as it's on this side of the road. Just pull aside, take a pic and drive on - nothing else to do there.

This is a water tower that is leaning. It is viewable from the interstate so you can drive by and say you've seen it.

Another great photo stop along Route 66, you need to get off the interstate to see it the best. It's certainly eye catching.
