San Gabriel River is a great place to go with the family and the dog. When it is hot outside, the cool waters of the San Gabriel are perfect.

The river has some really great places for kids with the beaches and shallow waters. Currents are very mild and there are some natural water slides that the kids will love

The San Gabriel river is a significant part of Texas history, as is Georgetown. The city has complete a wonderful trail (concrete) along the river from Blue Hole east through the entire San Gabriel Park. Excellent strolling for the whole family wheelchairs and dogs included. Plenty of play area in the park. Excellent setting for loading up the wagon and... More

One of the best parts of living in Georgetown. There are wonderful walking paths all along the river, but sometimes you just need a place to sit and think, to calm your soul.

Our family lives just a mile away so we like to come to the river here before dusk and just hang out. One daughter likes bird watching, the other likes being by the water and my wife and I enjoy the Sunken Garden. Accessible to DT Georgetown, it's a great place to walk, explore, play and just watch a beautiful... More

Flowing through central Texas, San Gabriel River roadside signs are seen numerous times while out driving in the countryside. (The San Gabriel River is formed in Georgetown, Texas, 45 minutes north of Austin.) Scientifically-speaking, like numerous Texas Hill Country rivers, the San Gabriel is typified by its limestone river bottoms, some moderate rapids, small canyons, and muddy bottoms along the... The San Gabriel river has some beautiful trails that run along it's banks. I'm unsure exactly how many miles each one is, and when I was there, it appeared that the city is still adding on to it! There are parks, volleyball areas, doggie stations, everything you want to see while on a hike. I even saw several deer on... More

Well most of the time anyhow. There is the North San Gabriel which runs into Lake Georgetown. And the South San Gabriel which has no lake on the west side of Georgetown. Both cross under IH 35 and meet in San Gabriel Park just west of Blue Hole. These combine to make the San Gabriel River that flows thru the... More
