Not going to wow you and I wouldn't go out of my way to see it, but it's close to the Strand and only costs $2 to walk through. It's a pretty theatre and for us history buffs that appreciate architecture of that area, it's nice.

I'm glad you enjoyed touring the building. We're pretty proud of restoration efforts and the architecture Wows us daily! To truly experience The Grand, you should come see a performance. With near perfect acoustics, and no seat farther than 70 feet from the stage, it's an entertainment experience that is like no other! More

We stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon since the Open sign was on the box office. I believe it is closed in the morning. It is a self guided tour for $2 per person. There is a brochure with some information. This is a pretty theater, built in the 1890's. It seats over 1,000 people but feels cozy. Don't miss... More

Thank you for visiting The Grand! (and for posting the photo of the Sand Mandala!) Our hours of operation are Mon.-Sat. 9am-5pm. Self-guided tours are available at any time within those hours - unless we have a show loading in (sound check, etc...) so call before you come! Hope you can come back for a show! More

This is a wonderful theater and having been there numerous times, I have yet to get a seat that was bad AND I have purchased the middle priced option most times. Acoustics are exceptional and access for elderly is good. I am just sick to be missing Prairie Home Companion coming there late April due to a conflict.

Had heard about this place. Walked in mid-day. Asked if tours were available. Were given a very informative brochure, asked for a $2 donation, and invited to take the elevator to the top and walk down. You really won't believe this building is in Galveston. Lovingly restored.

Saw Olympia Dukakis in a woman play. Perfect venue. Beautiful theater, lovely staff. A few seats have obstructed views, but other than that, I was actually able to see her facial expressions from the back of the orchestra. Acoustics are great - next I will see a musical venue.

Thank you for the review! Most people don't realize how intimate our venue is - with no seat further than 70 feet from the stage - you really can "see" the performers - as you described! More

Wonderfull, beautiful, Grand Opera house! One of the best venues in the world for up close and personal entertainment! Always feel like I'm being entertained in my own living room. Architecturally beautiful with wonderful staff! Love this place!

I've visited the Grand several times. It is a beautiful old grande dame of a theater. Inside the box office area are the markers for hurricane flooding over the years, but anywhere else in the theater you can't see it. The interior is a Victorian gem. It's a very intimate theater, with every seat seeming to be right on the... More

Thank you for the wonderful review... The Grand presents world class entertainment and we present most of the same shows that you might see in Houston, only in a more intimate venue. With no seat further than 70 feet from the stage - you really feel like you're "part of the show" when at our performances. We don't compete with... More

It's very charming. Small & cozy. Good restrooms & ticket prices are affordable. We sat in one of the orchestra boxes & it was a beautiful experience. We will definitely go again.
