I wanted a tour that would show me the true history of Galveston Island and this is it! This tour was amazing because we litery hit every street on the island and got some really nice historical facts. You must call atleast 4 hours before the tour starts to reserve your spot. His form of tranportation is a 15 seater high end golf cart which is suprisingly comfortable! Our tour guide "Jacob" was awesome in telling us the history of the town. This is definitely a must do in Galveston,TX.

I brought my husband to Galveston for our 31st Wedding Anniversary and made sure that this tour was the first thing on our list for the week-end. I had taken the tour with Bobby and Mary with my Girl's week-end out trip about 6 weeks ago and liked it so much that I knew that my husband would enjoy it also. Bobby is the BEST!!!! His family has been on the island since the 1800's and he has lived in Galveston all his life....so knows everything there is about the history and interesting stories of the island. The tour lasts a good 2 hours and is in an open golf cart. Bobby took us all over the island to see the historic houses, special architecture, tree sculptures, the Strand and it's history. He'll tell you where to eat the freshest seafood on the island and give you coupons too. He actually picked us up at our B&B which was very handy for us and we didn't have to lose our parking space. His tour is very personable and he will stop at any time and let you get out and take pictures. Don't miss this tour!!!

I saw this tour on Groupon. I decided for the price I would pay the regular price rather than getting the Groupon. My husband and two adult age children went on the tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. He spoke clearly and loudly enough that we caught everything he said. Good information on the history of the area. He took us by several mansions and othe beautiful homes and buildings. He also pointed out several ocal restaurants and businesses. Be sure to write them down. Or at least the closest intersections. The tour lasted an hour and we were left wanting more.

We loved our time in Galveston and enjoyed everything except this bus tour. We took an afternoon tour to see some sights and learn a little bit about the area. We thought it would be a nice break to sit comfortably in an air conditioned van and look around. First of all, the seats are crowded. There was no knee room. And we had to crawl to our seats, which was difficult with any kind of physical limitation. Then, the air conditioning wasn't working well. One vent didn't work at all. We were stuffed in there, and I could barely breathe. It was hot, and I wasn't sure if I was going to pass out or throw up. I just tried to hold on until it was over. There was nothing comfortable about it. I would skip this for sure!

First off- we did not even get on the tour. So this review is only about our experience with the people who ran it. We called the night before to make reservations. Got there and signed in 30 minutes early. Went to load...and there were too many people for the tour. The tour guide asked who made reservations...us and one other group. But then offered no solutions to find us seats...just took the payment of the group in front of him and did not look at us. Very disappointed with his professionalism.

Our family of three took this tour after our first night in Galveston. What a great introduction to the sites and stories of Galveston. We loved the open "golf cart" atmosphere. It was great for taking pictures and quickly getting around the historic areas of the city. The tour guide had great information about numerous sites and pointed out all sorts of details that we would have missed had we not taken the tour. I highly recommend!
We contacted the tour company from the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center and they picked us up right from there.

We went to the tour start location at Ashton Villa Visitor Centre, and were informed that the tour wasn't running because of staffing issues. We then called the tour number, and were informed that there would only be one tour per day. We booked our tour, and were extremely surprised when a large van pulled up. When I said, I expected this to be an electric, open air, environmentally friendly vehicle, I was told by the driver that he had to give that one up years ago. There are lots of Galveston tours in gas powered vehicles. We were both very disappointed. They should stop falsely advertising the electric vehicle.

Sorry for our misunderstanding. I didn't have to give up the electric cart "years ago" but just a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the city shut it down saying that it was not street legal and unsafe for tours. Trust me. I wasn't happy with their decision. Since, this happened a short time ago, I'm in the process of updating rack cards, the website, and other advertising. It's just going to take some time. Even though y'all were disappointed in the vehicle, hopefully, you weren't disappointed with the tour. Sorry again for the misunderstanding, and thank you for the review.

This tour is on a large golf cart type electric vehicle which seats about 10. I recommend taking this tour your first day in Galveston to get an overview of the city and its history. Our guide was very knowledgable. Unfortunately, we had a lady on our tour that talked continuously which made it hard to heard the guide at times. It looks like the cart has a sound system, but the guide did not use a Microphone. I think this would help those in the back hear better. We road on the back seat and my husband is hard of hearing. He didn't hear much of the guide's presentation. The tour goes to the Strand, historical homes district, & tree carvings were shown - really covered most of city. Recommended places to eat and visit. Note: the tour leaves from Galveston Visitor's Center back lot. The instructions were by the gazebo, but he picks up by the door of the visitors Center.

This was one of the best tours I've been on, and I've been on A LOT of tours. The tram had the advantages of a walking tour - close up views, easy to see in all directions, slow pace in interesting areas, and easy communication with the guide. But, it had the advantages of a ride, too - relaxing in covered comfort while covering a lot of ground, with a nice breeze created by the movement of the tram. The tour guide knew his info well, was able to deliver it so it didn't sound canned, and gladly answered all the questions we had. Well worth the cost. With a brochure picked up at the Visitor's Center where the tour leaves from, you get $1 off the ticket, too. Call in advance (we called just an hour ahead) to reserve a spot.

This is kind of a layed back tour, guided by a long time local who know the story of Galveston Island. First of all the tour begins at the Tourist Information Office behind the Moody Mansion. The person in the Office will can the driver and tell him how many riders he has. He arrives with a 8-10 seater golf cart. For the tour the price is very resonable. As I remember it was like $10 apiece. and that was for over an hour tour. He will stop at some sight and explain what you are seeing, it may be the the tree scuptures or the rabbit yard., to the large stain glass window made byTiffiny in on of the Churches. We enjoyed it very much.

I need to know how and where to make reservations. We will be in Galveston from the 5th until the 11th and we want to be sure to take this tour. I use a mobility scooter and need to know if this is strictly a driving tour and I won't need the scooter. Thank you.

Your first stop should be to the Visitor's Center, they are very helpful and often have deals that will save you a lot of money while visiting various attractions in Galveston. We rode in the van the entire time. Loaded up at the Visitor's Center, the guide drove us around and gave lots of details about Galveston and certain sites and dropped us off back at the Visitor's Center.
