If you don't know the story of the 1900 Galveston hurricane, then you don't know the backbone of this mighty city. The photos and commentary in the film are humbling. You may need a tissue. Then, as you drive back through Galveston, you will recognize...More

"The Great Storm" of 1900 came to life in this documentary. The photos of the destruction were incredible. There was another movie, but at an hour in length, one was enough for me.

We stopped here after getting off our cruise ship as we waited for our hotel to be ready. Enjoyed both movies and the small gift shop.

We have seen the movie, The Great Storm, many times over the years. While just as informative as ever, it is in need of a technological upgrade. The format was fine in the 90's, but is dated at this time. I would still recommend seeing...More

In 1900, before hurricanes were given names, Galveston suffered the worst disaster in American history when over 4,000 people died. The film is comprised largely of photos from the era, similar to a Ken Burns type of production. It was very well done and very...More

We watched the two docos on the 1900 hurricane and the pirate/privateer Laffite. The former was the better; it's amazing that Galveston is still here given this and other hurricane's over the last hundred years. Given that the film-maker only had a few stills to...More
