About
Located on Galveston’s Pelican Island, the park offers one of the island’s most popular fishing piers, picnic sites and playground. The park is also home to the Galveston Naval Museum featuring the USS Cavalla and USS Stewart. Visitors can watch ships make their way through the Galveston ship channel, drop a line and catch some fish or learn about military history from a local historian.

The park is nice for a day with the family. Due to some remodeling, the ship and submarine were closed. Fishing is available from several spots. There is a playground for the kids and lots and lots of room to roam. The building that used to contain a restaurant is in need of demolition. There are port-a-potties outside and some vending machines. Bring your own picnic!

This is a nicely kept park with a long fishing peer and a large playground. It is right next to the Naval museum. The day I went there I saw many people fishing both and the peer and off the rock walls. Several people had numerous large flounder and other fish on their stringers.

Happened here somewhat by chance but had a great time. One of the best maintained public parks I have ever seen. Spotless! Great fishing from the wooden walkways. Terrific playground for the kids. Outstanding views of the many sea-going vessels, ferries, and charter books. Bring bread to feed the birds. Cost $6 per carload to park and visit. And as a bonus: there is a submarine and a destroyer dry-docked at the park. The attended gave permission for us to go on the decks of both for no charge. Take the kids and a picnic lunch and spend a fun afternoon at Seawolf park.

Being a retired Submariner I was definitely looking forward to seeing a boat that I hadn't sailed in, great seeing all the things that my OLD shipmate bubbleheads would talk about. Seeing the USS Stewart was also delightful to check out how the surface sailors had life onboard. My grandkids loved seeing everything and couldn't wait to get to the play park on the other end of the island.

Take a picnic lunch and enjoy this beautiful park. While your there enjoy some fishing, calm, relaxing , you time!! Also visit the destroyer, and the submarine. Both won medals for their heroic actions in WW11. A place of honor and reverence.

Had a disappointing visit to the Elissa so were in the mood to see some ships that you can actually walk through. Looked to Trip Advisor and saw Seawolf park. The admission was a little more than the Elissa, but that’s where the similarities ended. Going on the deck of the USS Cavalla submarine was cool, but it was awesome to squeeze through the hatches below and learn what life as a WW II submariner was all about. Then getting to go on the USS Stewart and learn about this destroyer was the added bonus. If you want to learn about history and enjoy ships, Seawolf Park is a must see!

Started off fishing by day, great place for backing up vehicle, get out, walk 10 feet, cast off at the boardwalk area, or walk out to fishing pier on the opposite side of Pelican island. Access is great for person with disabilities such as myself at the boardwalk fishing spot. Nice, quiet experience, with relaxing sounds of the water hitting the bulkhead, watching the Dolphins in the water a super nice place to be. Can't speak for the museum, only went there to fish.
PRO: Night fishing was fun, pretty view of the Galveston Island wharf. lots of ships, boats and the ferry crossing in the channel. Fishing at night, totally different vibe though.
CON: People that need/must catch fish bring in noisy generators and big lights to beam onto the water surface. NOT A FAN OF THIS, MUCH TOO NOISY!!! By the second person to bring a generator and fire it up, I had to leave, the drone of noise from the generators was simply just too much for us. We left the park at this point even though we PAID to be there all night.

We really enjoyed the USS Stewart and the SK Cavalla submarine walk through tours.
But, Ross, the Executive Director of the park, corralled us for his presentation before we went on the ships/sub. He told the stories and the history of both of them as well as the park. That is what really brought the significance of what we were seeing to life.
It is a must see.

We didn’t tour the ship or submarine as we were on limited time. We parked ($6.00), then played, walked the pier, and watched a bunch of ships going by the point. Our 3 years old son enjoyed our time. Only down side is the restrooms were all porta-potties. If this place had nice restrooms at the park I would give it 5*.

Hi Shannon,
The USS Stewart is air-conditioned so no issues there! The USS Cavalla is warmer in certain areas of the ship but if you tour the USS Cavalla in the morning it shouldn't be an issue. Hope this information helps!
