About
I offer Galveston professional fishing guide charter service for half day jetty fishing, full day offshore, and night fishing trips. Inshore fish species include speckled trout, redfish, flounder, drum, & shark. Offshore fish species include red snapper. My boat is a 30′ Chris Craft Tournament Sportfish complete with cabin and restroom. For more than 30 years and running, I have maintained a 100 ton USCG Captain’s License and am fully insured. My boat is located on the B-Dock in Slip 46 at the Galveston Yacht Basin located at 715 North Holiday Drive, Galveston, TX 77550. I supply the life jackets, tackle, bait, ice, and water. Please wear non-marking shoes and bring sunscreen. Each person in your party must have a valid Texas fishing license regardless of whether they plan on fishing or are just tagging along for photos and fun. Don’t forget the Red Drum Tag – and a Bonus Red Drum Tag if you want more than one! I do not allow glass containers or hard liquor on my boat.

We booked with Stray Cats Charters for a couple of reasons. First the boat is decent sized with a cabin and a head. This comes in handy when you are fishing with children who night need a restroom or need to get out of some cool March weather. We fortunately had a glorious sunny day with little wind so everyone was comfortable. Second they had really good reviews which are well deserved. Captain Jerry and Brian the first mate were personable, fun, and engaging. One of our teens is in the stage where he doesn't want to do anything and chose not to fish but they kept him entertained and eventually talked him into fishing towards the end of the trip. Out of our family of five, four of us limited out on sheepshead which were a blast to catch although a bit tricky to hook. If we had landed every fish that we missed or lost we would have limited out in an hour. It was a lot of fun and I would recommend them if you have kids who want to fish.

Captain Jerry and his deckhand Yardstick took my husband and I out fishing in the jetty's and Bay Area for our first time ever. They worked extremely hard to find us fish, in the end we caught a bunch of reds and it was a BLAST! If you are looking to go out fishing in Galveston I'd highly recommend these guys! Clean boat and very roomy. They go above and beyond! I promise you you will not be disappointed, Best time Iv ever had fishing! Thank you!!

If you are planning on a fishing trip in Galveston, this is the boat and Captain. Captain Jerry is amazing and so much fun. We would have had fun even if we did not catch any fish, but that would far from the case. We had a few boats around us and we pulled in twice as many fish as all the other put together. Yardstick was the best First mate since Gilligan. Don’t think and search any longer, I promise this is the right crew.

We had a very nice day with Jerry and Cory. A quick jaunt to the end of the Jetty and he kept us close to the structure with changing winds and current. We caught about a dozen sheephead on live shrimp. Late in afternoon a school of big redfish moved in, wishing we would have had more than two tags, but catch and release was a ball on the light tackle.
Wind began to pick up and we were really glad to be in that large boat - perfect for the 6 of us.

We had an outstanding time with Stray Cat Fishing Charters. My wife booked a charter with them for a bday present for me and 5 of my friends. Captain Jerry was very upfront about weather and how fishing had been as of late. We found this to be very professional and we were much appreciative.
Captain Jerry put us on fish and even sharks. He and his deckhand were very knowledgeable, helpful and entertaining. They kept the day fun even when the bite was slow.
If you are looking for a charter from professionals, I strongly suggest giving Stray Cat Charters a try.

If you want to take your family and/or friends from out of town on the fishing charter from Galveston, make sure you check out Stay Cat and you will not regret it. That's what I did this spring break. Captain Jerry and his assistant Jordan went above and beyond to make sure that we had great fun catching fish and in a responsible way. The trip started slow, but Jerry and Jordan worked hard to keep us engaged, especially the kids. The patience finally paid off when we got to a new spot and we came home with a cooler full of carefully cleaned fillets. There is a reason this fishing charter receives so many rave reviews. The combination of their know-how and work ethic will ensure that you will have a blast, regardless of your fishing skills.

I am giving Captain Jerry a 5 star review due to his honesty with my deposit money, and candor about the weather conditions. FULL DISCLOSURE I didn't end up fishing with Capt. Jerry. So here is the story, I booked a fishing charter with him for two weekend days in July of 2021. During the entire booking process the Capt was very nice, personable, and professional. He worked with me to secure dates, and checked in with me before we took the plane ride down to Galveston from Chicago. I brought my 74 year old Father on the trip. Unfortunately my Dad has some hip and knee issues. I let Captain Jerry know this and he was very nice and honest about the possibility of weather conditions giving us problems. When we arrived the swells for the weekend were 4 feet. Needless to say my Father would have had a difficult time on the water with these types of waves. The Captain and I discussed the situation and he was very nice to let me have my enire deposit back. He also gave us some good recomendations for restaurants in town. This is a nice man that isn't only interested in taking your money. I genuinely got the vibe he wants to make his clients happy and provide the best experience possible. While also giving you reasonable expectations about what kinds of conditions you can expect out on the water. When I return to Galveston with my younger buddies I will book with him again and unless there is a hurricane my able body friends and I will be going out on the water.

We booked our 2nd fishing trip with Stray Cat Fishing Charters and went fishing today. Captain Jerry checked in with me before our trip to make sure we did not have any questions and made sure we were well informed regarding what to bring, type of licenses we needed, and the weather.
Captain Jerry’s boat is very nice and well taken care of. The boat is roomy and extremely clean. There was plenty of room on board for us to relax, spread out and fish comfortably.
Captain Jerry and his deck hand Jordan are friendly, and work hard to ensure we were comfortable and that we understood what type of fish we were after, how to catch them, and Jordan made sure our lines were always baited.
We caught lots of fish, and they accommodated us with some shark fishing. We all caught shark and had a blast! I would highly recommend Captain Jerry and Stray Cat Fishing Charters. We will be booking a future trip with them the next time we are in Galveston! Thank you Captain Jerry!

Captain Jerry and Jordan were fantastic. These guys know the spots and how and when to adjust course to make sure to put you and the family where fish are at!
They will go as lightly or as aggressive as you choose. They were very considerate of having a 9 year old and my wife on board and interacted well showing our son all the little things he wanted and he caught a few amazing reds! They were also very interesting and entertaining. Highly recommend!

We had a blast fishing with Jerry and Geeb. My 85 year old Dad caught the biggest fish he's ever caught and had a real bucket-list experience. We caught at least 4 different types of fish and Geeb cleaned them for us when we got back. We took the filets to the Huli Huli Hut restaurant and they prepare them grilled, blackened, and fried for us - an incredible feast. Highly recommend Jerry and Geeb and hope we can go fishing again with them.
