    Beautiful facility…lousy experience
We've been here before but were disappointed on this visit. It was very crowded (expected that on a summer late morning). The parking situation and directional signs were terrible - we hadn't been in many years and one would have expected to see better directions both for parking as well as to the various venues. Once we were inside, the staff were not helpful - each assumed the attendees knew exactly what to do and where to go. We only spent time at the aquarium which is spectacular and very interesting - but the directional signs in the exhibit were less than adequate,

Rainforest and aquarium are a must!
Rainforest is awesome! Free ranging animals come right up to you! Seriously 10/10! The aquarium is so fun and cool on a hot day. Palm beach is ok. A couple of fun things, but not really worth the price.

Fun, Fun, Fun - The Perfect Day.
This was Sooooo!!! much fun! Start with buying the refillable drink and popcorn in souvenir cup/tub ($27 for both) -Free refills all day and you can take them into the movies. The 3D and 4D movies are great! The 4D are only like 15 minutes but it sure is nice to get misted with water on a hot day! The 3D are 35-45 minutes and really entertaining and educational. The current themes are sharks and dinosaurs. We ate in the restaurant and the buffet was really good with several selections of salad, entrees and dessert. Very very pleasant and relaxing while looking out at the lake. We also enjoyed the rain forest. Plan on plenty of time because there is a lot to see (don’t feed the critters). The paddle boat was just relaxing with some breeze, but we did feed the seagulls with that free popcorn. Overall, just delightful!😊 We’ll go back when they change the movies and the themes and certainly at Christmas for the ice sculptures and exhibits.

Palm Beach is best for small children
The website seemed to be vague on the actual attractions at Palm Beach, but they really did list everything. Lazy River, wave pool, splash pad, aquatic playground and one set of slides that are sloooooow. It’s impressive considering the amount of land they had to work with, but it’s overpriced for what there is to do. My seven year old was highly disappointed, and we were done in less than two hours. Families with small children would definitely get more out of this place.

    Yucky hotel but great attractions.
We stayed in the hotel and visited all 3 pyramids. The pyramids were great! We did a private otter encounter and a public penguin encounter. Both were wonderful. We would like to do a private penguin encounter as it was our favorite. The 3 stars comes from the hotel. Check in was disorganized and the people at the desk make you feel like your bothering them. We had purchased our pyramid tickets when we booked the hotel. At check in. I was told I had to come back the next day to get our passes. Which meant standing in the check in line again. The room and hallway on the 3rd floor smell. The room smelled liked the the carpet had been wet and mildewed. There’s no way housekeeping didn’t notice the smell. The ac was set to 50 degrees I’m assuming to keep air circulating. The bathtub floor was peeling badly. The hotels needs better upkeep. We won’t stay here again but will visit the pyramids.

Thought about asking for some money back after walking through the aquarium.
As many others have stated, the attractions are simply overpriced. It seems everything is priced at least 30% more than it should be priced. While the aquarium was nice, our experience wasn't worth what we paid. When we had finished walking through the aquarium, I thought "That's it? That's what we paid for? That's not enough aquarium for that price.". On the bright side, we enjoyed seeing the penguins and the jellyfish.

    Aquarium exhibits need cleaning
The smell is distinctive as soon as you enter the Aquarium. Ok, it smells like fish & something else, but it’s an aquarium so we kept on. We later discovered the source of the smell is the seal exhibit. It smells like sewage. I couldn’t go near it. Luckily there are multiple floors & you’re not on the same floor with that all the time. I like how the exhibit meanders up & down ramps. It makes it easier to walk & easy for families with strollers. My niece loved the stingray exhibit. I did like the jellyfish exhibit - how they are lit up. Some aquariums had very brightly colored fish. There were so many penguins - which of course were cute. Need more places to sit down. Just a bench here & there.

    Loved Moody Gardens
I went to Moody Gardens alone while my husband was on a fishing trip and loved it! I bought my senior ticket that included all three pyramids, a ride on the paddlewheeler, and 2 movies. For me, the Rainforest Pyramid was the best part of the experience. I took my time and enjoyed reading about the different kinds of rainforests, watching the animals, and taking pictures. Highly recommend!

Do not waste your money. The encounter lasts about two minutes with the penguin in the room. You pay over 400$ to hear about each penguin and what they eat etc for 20 mins then you hear how to save the planet for another 20 mins. Then the last two mins they bring in penguin. I asked to chose what penguin since we were the first group of the day. He said no. I asked if we can take a picture with the penguin he said no. Everyone must sit right where they are. Then I asked if he can at least take a picture of us since we can’t move..... he (the guide) said no. He’s “instructed” to not touch our phones for he can break it. We were allowed to touch the penguin with two fingers one time each while he was there. Then the penguin made paintings for us and the guide kept one. I reminded him that he missed one of the paintings that he didn’t put in our bag and he said he’s throwing it away instead. Waste of time and money.

Our group included twins not yet 3 years old. The tickets are very expensive, maybe necessarity. Penguins were the aquarium's high point, along with the "tanks" themselves. Some strutting birds at the rainforest were entertaining. We visited the first week of March before Spring Break, an ideal time. The Rainforest wasn't all that different from other places we've visited. I have no complaints but don't rate it near the top of Galveston's attractions. With young children, visiting one pyramid in a day is enough; I recommend the aquarium over the Rainforest.

We visited here the Monday following Thanksgiving weekend and found the crowds very light during the afternoon. Happily, there is free onsite parking here. We purchased combo tickets for the aquarium and rainforest pyramids and enjoyed them both very much, spending just over one hour in each.

The aquarium is not huge, but it’s nice for its size; it has a really nice moon jellies and sea nettles exhibit. There is a nice shark tunnel here. A large tank held harbor seals and sea lions, who were fun to watch up close as they went swimming by. During our visit, there was a glitch with the aquarium’s species identification placards, so none were working, unfortunately. Also, we found the flow leading around the various habitat areas confusing and ended up backtracking several times to catch areas we missed. We had lunch in the aquarium’s café; the food was tasty.

The rainforest pyramid was another enjoyable experience, other than finding the canopy level to be extremely hot and humid (there should be water fountains available upon exiting this area!). At the top level, we saw white-faced Saki monkeys, fruit bats, and tropical birds (employees were helpful in pointing out the animals throughout the area). The Cloud Forest gallery was much cooler, thankfully, and finally, the bottom level contained some small mammals and more beautiful birds. After our walk-through, we caught an interesting keeper talk on the otters.

All in all, we (2 seniors, no children along) enjoyed this attraction (we did not stay for any of the holiday or evening activities). The exhibits were on the small side and therefore a bit overpriced. However, this attraction has a very pleasant setting at the water’s edge; we enjoyed the palm trees and nice landscaping surrounding the pyramids.

We went here during the holidays with toddlers around evening and stayed till closing time. The aquarium was not that big but it had really large fish tanks. Kids loved watching. Unfortunately the rainforest was closed when we reached there so make sure you check the attractions' closing times when you plan your visit. Our toddlers had fun in the 4D theatre watching Rudolph the reindeer movie. We also were able to check out the Discovery museum. They also have a 4D show in the first floor which we couldn't go because of the time. The museum on the second floor is very informative for kids but toddlers were too small for it. Then we had to stay in a very long queue for the Iceland which is a seasonal attraction. It had very beautiful ice sculptures and we enjoyed the ice slide although we again had stay in a long queue for it, in a 9 degree temperature. We also made it to the Artic slide which was simple yet fun and we ended our visit by walking leisurely through the festival of lights. Very magical illuminating lights everywhere along the path. This place is worth the price and its really fun for the whole family.

First, YES, this was expensive...it cost our family of four $100 to just visit the aquarium, and one of our kids was FREE (3 and under). The kids loved it and the exhibits are very good, I personally enjoyed the penguins and seals. The facility was virtually spotless in terms of being clean for the visitors. However, it’s not really very big and it only took us an hour and a half for the whole experience. Also, we missed the jellyfish which I always like, someone said they close it for feeding every hour or half hour? That seems a bit much and I’ve never had that issue at any other aquarium, but there was a closed sign at the entrance. I just don’t get it. Anyway, this was enjoyable but I’d much prefer to visit the aquariums in New Orleans, Baltimore, or Vancouver for the price and the size.

Both my husband and I really enjoyed Iceland. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to tour the place, but we were in there for about 40 minutes since I went around and took a lot of photos of the ice sculptures, which were fantastic. Since it was only 9 degrees in there, we did get a bit cold, especially my right hand since I had to take my glove off to take the photos. Going down the ice slide was fun, which we did 3 times. This attraction is a must see and well worth your time

My husband and I spent a few days in Galveston and since we hadn’t Ben to Moody Gardens in over 5 years we decided to go back.
I was really sad that there weren’t many people there on Thursday when we were there. The good thing though is that we didn’t have a problem getting in the exhibits and shows!
We bought the value pass and went to everything but the interactive show at the Discovery Museum and the Dinosaur exhibit in the tent.
I always enjoy the aquarium and the boat ride.
There wasn’t much choice for food - just chicken tenders or hot dogs and ice cream and drinks.
Don’t be afraid to go now!

Overall, I'd have to say that unfortunately I do not recommend this hotel. For the price, I was expecting more cleanliness and an updated interior. I was also expecting just a tad of luxury and better service. While the activities were PERFECT for my little guy (he's 3), the hotel just isn't up to par. I've stayed at Best Westerns way nicer than this! They need to charge more along the lines of about 200$ per night during peak seasons, or seriously consider updating, cleaning way more often and better, and better service.

Visited Moody gardens for the first time since my childhood. While the attractions are cool it is definitely not worth $75 for a day pass, you can visit SeaWorld for a cheaper price. The aquarium was the star attraction and we walked through it in less than 15 minutes.

With so much competition around Christmas holiday lights, this year was most disappointing at Moody Gardens. First, skip the package ticket prices offering all attractions. It is a waste as you will never get in due to overcrowding. Just buy a ticket for the lights if you are determined to visit this location. Also, this year light maintenance was seriously lacking with many exhibits sporting hundreds of burned out lights. One exhibit, I counted over 700 lights in various locations not functioning. This year, Christmas lights at the Houston Zoo and NASA Space Center all but put Moody Gardens to shame. Perhaps next year Moody Gardens will return to their previously enjoyed stellar reviews. Sorry, it just was not there in 2019!
