Now is the time, divers! Because of Covid-19, the Fling is limiting the number of divers onboard. This is the first time I have been aboard, so I am now officially spoiled. Accomodations are not crowded, the dining area always has a place for you, and the dive sites are just as good as always. In summary, the dive locations are great, I fully support visiting a rig every trip. The food is very good, and the divemasters are very professional. The only possible change I would like to see is that the single travellers are roomed together, and four-bunk rooms, when available, are reserved for couple that would pay a higher price. I know this is only really possible with the reduced occupancy levels, but it might help make some more money until things get back to normal. Also, remember to tip at least ten percent. If you can’t afford that, don’t go.

Wish I could leave a better review. We looked into this charter many years ago, before we had our own gear. But this place requires your own gear. So things happened where this was available. We booked it. We were warned this was a "camping" level of charter. Where it would go from camping, motel, AirBnB, hotel, then glamping. So we did knew this going in. Overall it was good. Just lots of sea sickness and lost dives due to poor visibility and people tired of swimming back to boat and/or getting up the ladder in turbulent water conditions. The crew was good. Very helpful. Thanks. I think the food was plentiful and good. I think I read reviews talking about how great it was. Made me think it was above normal. Like I said the food was plentiful, good, but normal. But that was expected.

Ref; Jackie A. 7-8-20 I think there has been a misunderstanding. I sincerely apologize to Sharon and Fling Charters for my part. Jackie called our store Copeland’s (Texas Oldest Dive Shop) asking about Flowergarden trips on the Fling. . She had several issues that seemed to be problematic. Concerns over the covid, ,complaints over the price, the fact that rental gear should be included at no charge. A staff talked extensively with her . In all honesty she don’t think we could accommodate her. In all fairness she seems to already be frustrated and argumentative. Our store at that time was busy with other phones ringing, students getting ready for check out dives , customers etc. In trying to accommodate her and a busy store, she complained about being left on hold etc. She was then told that we would have to help other people and call her back. She later called back and I answered the phone .and in an aggressive manner she wanted to speak to someone in authority because the girl she spoke with earlier was not returning her call. In my frustration I told her she was banned from the boat! and that no other shop would want to sign her up either. I told her that it was out of my hands and that the boat did not want her signing up. She continued to want to talk. I told her that I needed to go to my office to speak with her. On the way to my office I calmed down and resumed the conversation with ‘KINGS X, KINGS X. What I had said was out of anger and not true, I had no knowledge of contacting any other stores and had not even spoken with Sharon.’ Still extremely frustrated and upset , Jackie then went on to admit she had spoken with Sharon earlier in the day and that she had hung up on Sharon. I then asked her why she called us and why did she want to go on a weekend dive trip with someone that made her so mad that she hung up on them. She changed her hostile attitude and continued to ask many more questions. I explained to her that we simply get a referral fee for signing people up. She then went on to ask, “why do you even do business with them?” My answer was ‘they are the only boat running to the Flower gardens, the only game in town.’ Let me finish by saying that we have an excellent relationship with Sharon and Fling charters. We go all the way back to the Fling’s very first charters. Sharon and Fling Charters run an excellent operation for divers. And once again my sincerest apologizes to Sharon and Fling Charters and anyone I have offended, Jim Copeland

Honestly, Sharon is a horrible and manipulative person. I know pandemics call for stressed times, but she has a monopoly on the Flower Gardens that she likes to take advantage of others with. I am immunocompromised and called in to try and get information about her company's charters and know about availability. She immediately started off hostile towards me when I asked how the dive companies that she pays to advertise for her work and if she knew if there was any availability for upcoming trips. (For example, I did not know if I had to be in a certain state to book with a particular dive company.) She told me that the companies were listed on her site and I was capable to look them each up myself "to go and call them individually to find out if they're available." I tried then to ask about costs and if each might charge differently. She told me that because of COVID she was charging more per diver for a lowered capacity. I asked how she was handling accommodating to COVID regulations, and she IMMEDIATELY raised her voice with me saying, "I can charge what I want as I'm already operating at a loss to have people like you even be able to join and you don't know what it's like to keep a business open." At that point, I *did* call her out and tell her that there was no reason to treat me with such hostility or be rude. I had not asked about her costs, but about COVID concerns. She, still defensive, told me that she was taking on 22 people instead of 30, operating at 50 percent. I told her that was 75% and not 50%, which turned into her telling me she didn't care what percent it was because she had not been told she couldn't by any government regulation as of yet. I tried re-asking still to know about the different precautions, but she insisted to continue on about how I don't know operation costs, and the amount of people it takes to run a charter, and that she was not going to go down to an actual 50%. I chose to hang up. This was literally the extent of the conversation, with little having been said on my side. If that had been where things were left, I would not be writing publicly about her antics, but she went on to call EVERY DIVE COMPANY she works with to bar me from getting information about the trips by telling them to not let a person at my phone number book. One company was kind enough to let me know she had done this, and that I could make it known for discrimination, but that even with the little she pays dive companies, with COVID happening, they did not want to risk some money coming in during scarce times and challenge her for illegal practice because she has been known to be the only company that operates charters to the Flower Gardens. I think this abhorrent behavior for a company, and should be reported. I never raised my voice with her, used foul language, or put her or her company down. To go on a vendetta for being hung up on over a phone call to contact every dive company you pay to bar me from booking seems outlandish and illegal. I'm ashamed to think such a company operates in Texas.
