We stopped here along the way to our lodging accommodations in Fredericksburg since we had time to kill before we could check in. To be honest, this place is a gimmicky tourist stop in wine country. Hey, they snagged us - we stopped because of the name. Staff was friendly enough, tastings are cheap ($10pp), and they have nice outdoor area. Their wine, however, is very sweet and mediocre at best, even their Cab is on the sweet side.

Overall, we did have fun and if you have the time to kill, stop by even if it's just for the free Fat Ass wine glass that comes with your tasting fee. But this is cheap grocery store wine that they should be selling at $10 a bottle, not the $28+ they're asking.

My husband and I stopped at the Fat Ass Winery on a whim, not really knowing what to expect. We ended up having the best time! It's a very low key, casual place. For $8.00 you can choose between one glass of wine or a tasting of assorted wines w/souvenir glass. We enjoyed a glass of sweet red and it was quite good. There's also a selection of souvenir T-shirts and other small items for sale in the bar area. Outside, there's a courtyard with a covered area where a live band plays. The day we were there, a classic rock & blues band was playing for tips and they sounded great! There were even a few people who got up to dance! 🙂 There was a food truck on premises with the humorous name "Trailer Trash Cuisine" if you got hungry. 😂 It was a very fun, party atmosphere unlike other wineries we've visited. If you're looking for a fun, relaxing place to hang out with friends, listen to live music and sip wine, I highly recommend Fat Ass Winery!

We were greeted immediately. The guy doing our wine tasting was very knowledgeable and lots of fun. There was a live band playing popular songs and people were having a good time. There was a BBQ food truck and it was very good! The peach wine is amazing and I wish I would have bought more.

VERY disappointing! Stopped in recently for a glass of wine and/or a tasting. The server was too busy to offer a friendly greeting and when I stopped to look at the only bottles of wine on the bar, she rudely directed me to the display in the corner and said, "This is THEIR wine (referring to another couple). The display is over there." There were no other customers inside, but the other couple; however, apparently one more person in the store wasn't worth the time or friendly attention of that server. I had already picked up some merchandise to purchase, but I put it all back. I had intended on purchasing at least a case or more of wine to bring home with me to Minnesota, but not after the rude treatment I received. Fortunately for me and my friends and family back home, there were PLENTY of other vineyards to visit in the area. That lack of a simple friendly "welcome" or "hello" proved beneficial to the neighboring wineries, as I came home with numerous cases of wine from them.

Fat Ass Ranch was so much fun! The tastings are non-expensive, and they have tons of flavorful choices. I definitely recommend this winery especially if you are not a wine drinker. On the weekends they have live music and it is a fun time.

My wife and I went to Fat ass and to the wine garage for tasting and we were disappointed. We bought the combo tasting for both which costed $30. The tasting they both served were 5 tastings in 1/2 OZ solo cups. It was ridiculous. When we got to the Wine Garage it was the same thing. We have done the combo 3 times already and every time we have had to wait more than 40 minutes to get the wine garage tour and have yet to receive it. I understand the current restrictions we are under due to COVID but you need to either lower tasting prices or be upfront on what is expected before you charge our cards.

I was sooo looking forward to visiting this winery. I had heard AND read great things about it. Unfortunately, we did not come at a fun time. It seems they only have the live music and food truck and maybe even people on Saturdays?? We went on a Thursday late afternoon and we were the ONLY people there. A few others came in after us but no crowd for sure. No music --just dead, it almost looked closed. We had to give the "sweet fruity" wines a try. I am NOT a wine snob by any means but this is not traditional wine. Its flavored wine I think college kids would like. I did think the peach wine was not too bad and I could see putting it in some sort of cocktail mixed punch type drink. But the tasting was only $10 so I didn't mind giving it a try. Our wine server was really friendly and funny so she gave great service. Now the whole name & signs & merchandise are the catch. Got to stop & take some fun pics & buy a t-shirt or koozie, etc. I could see it being fun sitting outdoors with a crowd and live music but make sure you come on Saturday. And keep your expectations very low for the wine. However, it seems most people like the peach!!

We had so much fun here! Stopped in on Saturday at opening time. Took advantage of their $30 Saturday special, and I believe it's the best value in Fredericksburg for a wine tasting experience. We spent a few hours here, tasting at both wineries, touring the classic cars with the owner as our guide, and listening to music on the patio. We loved the wines at Fat Ass, and bought several bottles. This is a casual and fun atmoshere, laid back, and I will return here again and again. It is a wine experience, not just tasting. We will return soon and plan to spend more time next time.

They do not take reservations, so I recommend arriving within 15-30 minutes of them opening. It gets crazy packed quick! On Saturdays, they have a food truck.

Their wine is extremely sweet- Im not a fan HOWEVER, their random things are GREAT!! They have: 1) peach wine, 2) prickly pear raspberry jalapeño, 3) the 4 seltzer’s they have, 4) Sangrio blanco. They also have wine slushees for purchase at the winery. They have a tasting room downtown also.

We joined their wine club and you have the freedom to customize your quarterly shipment!!

We had an incredibly fun time at Fat Ass. Sharon and the owner took turns helping our large group with our tasting and we also chatted with Coach who was helping other customers but took time to chat with us. We felt so welcomed and laughed a lot. Their atmosphere is so laid back and causal and they want you to enjoy yourself. We all enjoyed the wine even though everyone in our group had different tastes in wine. Thank you for a wonderful time!
