This is where Wally and The Beaver grew up. There is something for everyone on this street. The Christmas Store - check out the Radko glass ornaments- they are a bit pricey but are heirloom worthy. The Kitchen store has absolutely anything you would need in a kitchen except a personal chef. Wonderful restaurants ( Old World German Bakery is... More

My husband and I were taking a trip from Houston to Fredericksburg for the weekend to hit up the wineries on 290. While the wineries were fantastic staying in town and the town itself were underwhelming. I'm all for having a quiet weekend away but for the amount of money that we spent to stay in-town (a cottage right off... More

Had some time to do a little sight seeing so we stop by Fredericksburg and strolled down Main Street and had an enjoyable time.

The shops are fun for a tourist trap town, but man do they close early on Sunday. We came for a long week end, sat-Monday and most of the shops closed between 4 and 6 on Sunday. No food options after 9pm. There were plenty of folks on the street willing to spend $$ and 75% of the businesses were... More

What a great historical town. People are very friendly, restaurants are variety, walking tour very easy. Best part is the you are very near the Texas wine country for tours.

If shopping with girlfriends along a historic Main Street and stopping in for wine tastings at wine bars along the way sounds like your idea of a great weekend, then you will love Fredericksburg. Great shopping, food, and drink options with many great diversions in the local area as well.

I enjoyed this city. It reminds me of how the original cities started. The shops were cute and we ate at a local German restaurant.

Took a detour driving from San Antonio to Austin to have a look at this town. Wish we had included it as part of our stay. Beautiful place with loads of shops and wineries

Very nice to stroll on cool evenings. Nice biergartens and other places to eat and drink. Nice for couples or groups of friends hanging out. Oktoberfest is crowded, but great fun nonetheless.

Fredericksburg is quite unique. It's a little out of the way - about 30 miles north of I-10 and between San Antonio and Austin, but it's appeal is multi-faceted and tourists flock here from around the world. 1. There is a great German influence here, dating back from it's early settlers. You'll see lots of "Welcommen" signs and German restaurants.... More
