The map they gave us says this trail is 4.6 miles. We (older adults) walked it a bit past the scenic overview. It was fantastic with great views along the way. I would love to go back and do the entire trail. The trail is marked as Moderate-Difficult but we didn't have any issues and I am afraid of heights. We also seen a number of families on the trail. As an FYI no cell coverage. …

We went up the Summit Trail last year and I found it a bit more slippery than I could handle. I love to hike, but the granite was not easy for me (I'm 68). This year we took the Loop Trail. It was a wide scrim trail that went past amazing rock formations and had superb views. We enjoyed our hike and even stopped to talk to some interesting people along the way. Such a great experience!…

This a 13 miles route that will take you about 30 minutes to complete. The speed limit is 10-15 mph because animals are roaming and the views are breathtaking. The bluebonnets and wildflowers were in full bloom and the weather was so beautiful at the end of March.

My husband, myself, our boxer and Italian greyhound took the loop trail today 3/25/2019 from 11:30-4. It was about 80 degrees and we thought a 4 ish mile walk wouldn’t be a big deal. We brought a gallon of water, 4 Gatorades and snacks. I am 6 months pregnant. We go to local trails and walk the neighborhood routinely. Now, even with all of our preparations (hats, sunblock, water, etc) we still weren’t prepared for what we had in store. It is beautiful, of course (it’s texas!) but it was extremely difficult for us to finish this trail. Part of it was closed down bc of flooding. We stopped frequently (very frequently) to stretch out and give the dogs water. There is LITTLE TO NO SHADE. It feels like the desert and there is no escaping it. Even when it was only 80ish degrees, it was brutal. Our very athletic Italian greyhound had a heat stroke. It was horrific. There was no water along the way. None. Even the fill up stations before and at the end did not work. We sat in one of the stinky outhouses for 15 minutes so the dogs could cool off. When the trail split where it was closed (turkey something or another) it became difficult to hike. Lots of climbing and ups and not so many downs (at least it felt that way lol). I felt like I was dragging myself the last half mile. My tracker said it was actually 6 miles, not the 4.25 they advise. Anyway. Long story short, leave the dogs at home, bring lots and lots of frozen water, and when you think you have enough, pack more. Sunblock, hats and sunglasses are a must!! Light and cool clothing. There is no reception if there is an emergency. Be smart!! Don’t be unprepared like us!!…
