This is a beautiful place. A lot more than I expected. The ride through the hill country to get there is one of the most beautiful in Texas.

We hiked the Summit Trail, not too difficult-we are weekend hikers and over 50. Must wear sensible shoes-no flip flops or strollers. It took us about 30 minutes to reach the top and it was breath-taking. Go first thing in the morning, park opens at 8:30. After the hike, we didn't feel guilty for the wine-tasting in the afternoon.

When we first headed to the enchanted rock location, the sign put in by the state was blinking, indicating the park was closed. However, we decided it would be a great sightseeing rfide. We were right, the scenery was great and when you crest the final hill to the Enchanted Rock location, it is an awsome sight, escoec ially when... More

Better strap on your hiking shoes for this one, these rocks are quite steep. I highly recommend hiking this treasure to see the spectacular views that it has to offer. However, if not a fan of heights and still want to experience the rock, there are lower trails and scenic views on these paths, too.

When nature creates it then that is true art. This is breathtaking scenery. Have a picnic and take a hike, or not... Beautiful.

I first went to Enchanted Rock over 40 years ago, when it was part of a private ranch, and you paid $5 to hike in and camp wherever you wanted. These days, it is an incredibly popular (and busy) state park...a good thing. Do the summit hike for sure, but try to take time to hike other trails too. Best... More

We visited Enchanted Rock for hiking twice during our Fredericksburg stay. We arrived in the early evening both times to avoid the heat of the day, as the hike to the top provides no shade. The hikes are relatively easy, and the views are incredible. We were there for sunset both times and it was lovely. Wear comfortable sneakers or... More

Enchanted rock has been a favourite climbing area for us for many years. It is a pretty easy climb or hike for kids or families, but take plenty of water and wear a hat in the summer! Texas heat can be vicious! Fredericksburg is a charming town and we love coming to enjoy nature as well as festivals here.

This is great if you are in great shape. I would recommend it during the cooler seasons. A one time deal, but fun. Hope you are in good shape, and have good shoes. Take water etc. No concessions on the way up lol

First, this place is truly a wonder. I first went out there 25 years ago and was stunned by the natural beauty of the place. My husband and I camped there a few times and I decided to try it alone one time during a late season cool snap. I set up my tent while a couple of white tail... More
