I have visited this zoo for several years. It has been rated one of the top zoos in the nation. It has regions of Texas species and you can stop and visit the informational stations. Very fun to take your children of all ages.

Extremely large and well planned out. Be prepared to walk a short distance when you park and miles and miles once inside!

Quite spacious & reasonable sized animal enclosures, but I have seen better. Penguinarium was a little disappointing having seen the one at Loro Parque in Tenerife. Kids enjoyed feeding the giraffes which was nice. Surprised to see a 'Burger King' as main eatery....Really?

I was visiting family in Texas. Day was warm and sunny and they were promoting Boo at the Zoo, so we decided to go. Coming from an area that has one of the worst zoos in the United States (The Smithsonian Zoo in Washington DC...More

Not a great zoo but pleasant and worth a visit if time to spare. Good for families, plenty for kids to see and do. Best perhaps was the opportunity to feed the giraffes and also the toucans.

This is really a great zoo and I’ve been to many all over the world. It is not owned by the city but is privately funded. They are constantly adding new exhibits so there is new construction but it doesn’t impact the fun you will...More

Its good to see the zoo developing new , larger and better animal areas since some of them are sub standard ( lion , mountain lion ) But most are both animal and visitor friendly which is great to see. Good range of food outlets...More

This is a very good zoo. There is a lot of walking but they do have a tram for about $3. It is tempting to take at the end of a hot day but we enjoyed the walk back so we could re visit different...More

Sorry I did not do an overnight adventure. Did not know there was one, missed that one. I'm sure it will be amazing & well worth your time because the rest of the zoo is amazing. Good luck!

Dallas 2.5 days with 12&16 yo (13 Replies)
We will be visiting Dallas for the first time 2/28-3/4. The weekend will be taken up by a cheer competition, I am trying to come up with an itinerary for our remaining time some ideas are: the aquarium, Ross Perot science center, and/or either Dallas or Fort Worth zoo. We will have a rental car so travelling is not a concern. I would welcome any thoughts/opinions about my choices. Thanks!

Also consider the walkable Historic Stockyards in Fort Worth and I just came across the well reviewed "Segway Fort Worth". If you've never enjoyed a Segway tour, you'd be in for a treat (weather permitting)! I believe Dallas also has a Segway tour group.

I really like the Fort Worth Zoo--it often is mentioned as one of the best smaller zoos in the country but is still large enough to have lots of things to interest everyone Very manageable. Nice kid's area as well. An added bonus is that it isn't too far from celebrity chef Tim Love's very interesting take on BBQ at his Woodshed Smokehouse restaurant near the Trinity trails. You could visit the zoo, drive over and have lunch, and then a nice walk along the trails. Also check out the hours...More

Hello! I am in the beginning stages of planning a visit to the area. My question after some research is whether this is all do-able in 1 day in Dallas? *quick visit of Dealey Plaza (not musuem) *Pioneer Plaza Arboretum? *Reunion Tower observation deck *Perot Museum Evening at Medievel Times My boyfriends daughter is 8 so trying to mix adult interests with her attention span. Elsewhere in the itinerary we will hopefully hit Legoland Discovery Center in Grapevine as well as for...More

Firat, San Antonio is a five hour drive from Dallas so not a day trip. How many days and nights will you be where in Dallas and Fort Worth? Dallas World Aquarium is fun for everybody so consider that as well.
